I’ve owned many Rangies over the years, including the P38 4.6L V8, L322 2002-2006 with the 3.0l TDV6 and even tried the L405 when it first arrived which I hated and which gave the most problems of any RR I’ve ever owned and it was so bad I vowed never to own one again. For me personally I’m a huge fan of the L322 2006-2012 with the 3.6 TDV8. The engine is solid and hard (but not impossible) to break. Like any RR they have problems and it's usually expensive to fix but if you are hands on and willing to tackle most jobs then they are viable. Conversely if you are going to have to rely on a garage or worse still a dealer then they are going to cost a fortune (likely more than the car is worth) to keep on the road and if its the latter I would advise not to get one! If you can find one that has been looked after and not run into the ground with no money spent on them then perfect otherwise you will hit a lot of expensive issues very quickly. The L322’s do suffer with rust under the sills at the rear so of there are any signs of rust when you open the rear doors or any rust on the rear quarter panel wheel arches then it will likely be rotten underneath the plastic sill covers. They can be repaired if not too far gone but you will need to get them welded. The upper tailgates are the other area which rust and thats a DIY job that can be done too. I’ve done both of those repairs myself. Sorry for such a long answer but hope it gives you food for thought!
