Really good overview! I just purchased my quilting Honda Accord and I love it. It’s a machine you didn’t mention, the Baby Lock Jazz II. I’m a fan of fully mechanical sewing machines and do most of my sewing on a Juki Industrial. The Jazz II has 12” of throat space for FMQ and a top speed of either 1000 or 1100 stitches per minute (I can’t remember which) and 28 utility stitches. I occasionally need a zig zag. At only $799 it’s quite affordable for those who want speed and a roomy throat plate, but don’t like computerized sewing machines.

Thank you for this very comprehensive and informative sewing machine review. This is the type of information I was looking for when I purchased my 1st sewing machine back in July. I ended up with a Singer and it is okay for now but I see a new machine in my future. I am definitely saving this video to assist me in making a my next sewing machine puechase.

I loved your video I have been sewing since I was 9. I’m now 64 and I had a Bernina 160 QE that I sewed on for 25 yrs but I had to retire it bc the circuit board needed replacing and unfortunately is no longer made! So I’m in the market for 2 great machines! I love the Janome HD9 and I have it on layaway till the Spring of ‘23. My 2nd choice is the Juki HZL DX5 that I’m strongly considering bc of all the features you get for the price! I have the Brother 4000D BE that I use strictly for embroidery but have had to use the machine to sew with since my Bernina stopped working. I love the Bernina but I REFUSE to pay the price for another computer machine that will give out in the next 20 yrs or so! I also had considered the Burnette 77 but the Juki DX5 is winning out! I’ve heard the DX model is a gem 💎 are these your thoughts as well? Wishing you and yours a very Merry Christmas and prosperous New Year 🎉

I love the Juki DX5! However, only time will tell if it has the longevity of your other machine. Likewise, the HD9 is a great machine. I've considered purchasing it myself, but haven't bitten yet. I hope you too have a wonderful new year!

After having a Singer 9910 from 2003 to present (20 yrs) I upgraded to Babylock Ballad. Yes it was a huge investment - but I wanted to go into free motion quilting and I needed better machine to do that. I love Babylock! I wish you had a Babylock machine review. I don't like Brother. Never have.

This is a great overview of many machines, and gives me more appreciation of my New Home (made by Janome) machine my mother gave me, years ago, it is around 40 years old, I think. There are a couple of things about it that bug me, and I would like a newer machine for a few features. But my machine looks so much like the Janomes you feature here. I am looking at Pfaff and Bernina, and now Bernette, thanks to you. I have not looked in a store yet, just online, and I sure appreciate this video!

I loveeeeee my Bernina 1010 too… and because I love it so much, I keep watching videos of the Bernina 325 and 335…. But $2k horrifies me…. But they’re soo pretty!

The day before our first lock down, I went to buy a 325. Then, it was on sale for $900!!! But, I changed my mind and got the 1010 off Craigslist for less than half the price because 325 only had snap on presser feet. Its $2K now. Wow

@@ThimbleBook Sorry sorry, I’m in New Zealand, I should said and I actually meant it’s $1899 my money for the 325/$2399 for the 335, which is $1200/1504 usd…. And that is our “on sale” price atm! Yeah…..they like to put huge markups on our prices which is super annoying! But at least they kinda hold their value… I paid the same for my 1010 as I did my industrial ($1250/usd 785) 😂😂😂 (then if you count Bernina feet which are $50-67 nzd/31-42 usd… my 1990s Bernina was fairly dang pricey too and that was 6 years ago) 😂 BUT it has never let me down and is so easy to maintain AND stitches soo good!🤗🤗🤗 Which is why I kinda want a new pretty one too….

@@ThimbleBook Brother and Bernina and Janome are a lot cheaper… and obviously you can get a better spec’d machine for the same nzd $2500 that the basic Bernina costs… but they’re plastic and just not the same metal quality of a Bernina… right? That’s why I’m so confused … i don’t need specs, I want durability and metal quality cos my 1010 and other vintages have/has spoilt me … and $2k is outrageous! 😂

I like Janome but the closest dealer is over 100 miles away. If I was shopping it would be Baby Lock, or Juki dealer is 20 miles away or Brother dealer is 50 miles away.

@ThimbleBook
@ThimbleBook Жыл бұрын
I have one small review on sergers on my website. Brother 1034D is the easiest to use. But, people often upgrade to the Juki 654, which is stronger but more difficult to thread. Personally, I like the Babylock vibrant because it appears to be the best of both worlds without going to the more expensive air threading systems.
