Respect to this dude his quick thinking in an "oh shit the breaks failed" going down the mountain saved an epic if not deadly crash. Sweet build too. I'm into bikepacking and bike camping and trekking. I've been dreaming up a similar build. His is brilliant mostly and not too difficult to build or expensive.

Sounds like one of those "dream build" things where you make your own and tailor it to your wants and needs.

A resistive dump load could help with your downhill braking issue and let you keep the batteries full. Dump the regen current to a power resistor or a heater element and waste it out as heat. Probably require a custom controller

nice.. functional art. I have a recumbent Solar E-Trike. My BMS protects the two batteries (over 1800wh) at 52v give me limitless range on sunny days..The Genasun GVB-8 automatically turns the boost/charge current on and off based on the voltage of the batteries. I did some experiments: 1) i use a MistyMate (portable pressurized misting system to cool the solar panels) and 2) i got some of those highly reflective sunshades (the kind you use in the car window to keep cool) to add to and reflect sunlight onto the panels when i'm not moving anymore.. I set the reflectors up at the campsite just to get the most out of the sun. (you have to watch to make sure it doesn't get too hot by using the misting system. I can see this project was a labor of love. The craftsmanship is beautiful. I'm hoping to ride the Rails-to-Trails, from Portland, up to Coeur D'alene, Northern Idaho, Montana, Wisconsin (where i have friends) Have you done any long distance touring..? Robb PDX

I understand it's an aerodynamics test of a plane body, but as a trike, that makes it a major compromise . I'm sure you had fun building it and in the process find simplifications and improvements. I really like how the pedals etc. remove to allow sleeping room- never seen that before. Keep on inventing!

@@aloysiusflartey6122did you not hear him say he likes it best for bike camping in winter because a) he’s got in floor electric heat and more than enough electricity to run it-says he barely notices any drop in the battery, plus b) as a 3-wheeler he doesn’t worry about a fall on ice the way he would on a bicycle. His recurrent problem is more power than he knows what to do with, not a shortage.

I love your philosophy… and I’d like to see it replicated… but how would we pay for emergency services, since they are taxed based. Now, please don’t take me wrong… I too am a minimalist and follow a very close background and philosophy… I’d like to see what we as a collective could come up with for this issue on these tax based services. Because with the right theory.. that can be put into action and with a movement… we can manifest a life like this.. Btw: love the build!!
