How long have we been working toward a goal? How long have we felt like we weren't getting anywhere? When did we realize we were running in place? Have we even noticed it?
Those questions are what help determine if our action is leading to accomplishment. When we chase the end results of our goals, we run the risk of just... running! ACTION DOES NOT MEAN ACCOMPLISHMENT!
When we learn how to effectively check out of the adamant, result chasing, mindset, we are able to focus on the actions necessary. We are finally able to check in to the space where we can accurately assess our progress and create physical indicators of success.
Beware of the dreaded zone out!! When we zone out, we disconnect and distance ourselves from our professional progress. If we feel like we are bingeing a television show and not really aware of what is going on in our actions; look out! We may already be zoned out.
The ability to check out to check in, is the first vital step in gaining personal responsibility and progress in our professional development. It is a crucial skill necessary when we make a our job into a career!
