Good advice. I normally replace power cords on any used equipment, unless it's been made in the last ten years.

That looks like the wiring I had on a 1995 mercedes SL. We called it the biodegradable wiring harness. I had to change the entire harness in the engine compartment and it was not cheap!

Good thing it wasnt under the dash too... I've seen that on 2 machines from the 1960s like that. What's funny about it is the wires are protected the outside casing is fine it's the inside that's bad. They must get a bad batch of coatings every now and then. I have never heard of house wiring doing that... how much would it be to change all the wires in a house!
