I purchased the 1095 for $687 so went with that. Pretty cool .I did the program for my RV and will be camping this summer around New England. Then plan a big trip to Florida from NH. So stay tune. I did find out tho if you talk to it you just say Garmin it does not respond. After looking at instructions you have to say (OK) Garmin or (Hey) Garmin. So far it's pretty on point for voice command. So stay tune!

Yes we did. Moved it to a lower part of the dash. There is a video on it somewhere on here!

Question: Would you select this one over the Garmin 890? I have in mind to get the 890 but open to either if this one is better. I rather save 200 bucks and get the 890 if its just as good though.

We got the 1090 only because were going back to a class A and the larger screen is better for us. If we were staying with a towable then we would have picked up the 890. Other then that they are both the same other then screen size.

Thank you, great info. I have a question or 2, maybe you can help me. We live in New York and we're heading out West for 2 and a 1/2 months in May for our biggest trip yet. We are only RVing for one year.. We have a class C and flat tow our Jeep. We have been using Google maps and RV Life and it works good for us so far. There has only been one time where we lost our signal and got a little jammed up but nothing too serious. Going out West is another story. So we're thinking we mabey should get a Garmin. I just looked on my dashboard and windshield and there really is no room for that huge 8" screen. Even 6" would be to big. Do you think I should just get one that's made for a car? Or do you know if there are any other options? Or is there a small one that I could put in the height of my RV? I like the idea of putting in the height so it don't direct me to any low bridges. I think one that's much smaller would maybe fit ok. I don't need a big screen but I like the idea of having a satellite map instead of something that could lose the signal. I'm just looking for some advice, any help would be appreciated. Also does the Garmin have an attachment where you could hook it up to something other than the window? I'm also gonna try to call the Garmin company hoping to get someone on the phone for ideas. Thanks

The size can be a bit of a problem so what we did is mounted it lower on the dash of our truck. It will still get a great signal. Both the 8in and 10in come with 2 mounts and can even use aftermarket ones if needed. I have a video on here on how I set it up on my truck so maybe that will help you some. Let me know!

Garmin RV 1090 or Garmin Overlander...not sure which to choose. Does the on-road features of Overlander match the RV Garmin 1090? It seems the Overlander has both on-road and off-road, so what advantage does the RV 1090 have?

Great question. The Overlander is more for 4 wheeled SUVs or trucks hitting the two tracks and the off beaten paths. The RV 1090 is geared for Motorhomes and travel trailers but has a car mode at well. The RV 1090 and RV 890 can leave a bread crumb trail like the Overlander but doesn't have the detailed maps of the off road trails. So if your only going off road or boondocking deep in the woods or desert then the Overlander is your best bet. If your RVing with some boondocking then the RV 1090 or RV 890 is great with RV only routes. I hope that helps

Thanks! Does the on road maps of the overlander match the 890 and 1090 though? It seems the off road maps would be a bonus that the 890 and 1090 don't have, unless the 890 and 1090 add something that the Overlander is missing?

@@peTeMelster They look like the maps would match. Again the RV 1090 and RV 890 are set to guide RVers to a destination on roads that can handle the larger RV. All options are for RV and Travel Trailer with features like dump stations, campgrounds, RV repairs, RV friendly gas stations and more. If you are interested in the Overlander then I would try looking for some videos on KZfaq and then do a comparison.

@@WhereRVStaying yea I've been researching for days but can't find a good comparison. My RV is tiny...20 feet long only, so it's more like a pickup truck. I intend to do lots of boondocking in remote areas, so that's why I'm interested in the Overlander, but the regular RV features would be nice too. So I'm trying to figure out if the Overlander omitted anything that the 890 or 1090 offer. Is the Overlander basically the same as the 890, but adds off road maps? Thanks!

@@peTeMelster Great question. I'm a RV boondocker. 30' pulled by an Excursion. I'd like to know if you could download Overlander maps from Garmin and integrate them into the 1090.
