@kdemetter
@kdemetter 2 жыл бұрын
To be fair that's probably an outdated mindset : in the past, 'people in need' were basically starving. Carbs are a cheap and plentiful source of calories, and oats are not the worst as they also have minerals and vitamins in them (assuming not overly processed) . And if a bowl of oats is your sole meal for the day, it's not going to make you fat. But today 'people in need' aren't actually starving, they can get plenty of calories, but it's all processed junk because that's the cheapest.

@@kdemetter Calories are a poor way to judge if food is nutritionally adequate. Many high caloric food will destroy your health. You may think of the terms I use as outdated, but I know protein deficiency, rickets, diabetes, and many other food related health issues caused by poverty. If the best a fellow low income person can do is a bowl of oats a day, we need to demand improvements to that dumb food pyramid. Suffering illnesses due to poverty caused food access is unacceptable. Anyone who has discovered methods to healthier food choices, share your knowledge. Watch the price of unhealthy foods drop to an all time low if we stop eating them. Keep learning what makes you healthy. Utilize this knowledge for change!

Actually Kellogg intended for the vegetarian diet to curb fertility and desire. It was part of his 7th DA beliefs. It was also very well known to anyone around animals in 1890 the combo of milk sugar or whey and waste starches puts weight on animals VERY QUICKLY. Just recently I came across a video on KZfaq, where a person ate rice for 7 days and lost 6 lbs. So I decided to experiment; I ate rice for one day. I had severe acid reflux, mucus at the back of my throat for 3 days. As it turns out, rice increases histamine in the body. Carbs are very bad if you have acid reflux or any gastrointestinal problems.

When I was 15, I remember stopping eating cheeriors and other breakfast cereals. I thought I had become lactose intolerant. I remember going around the corner at the bus stop in the mornings so that I could 'fart my brains out', get it all out of me before starting school. It was not a pleasant experience. In recent years I've tried organic cereals, a wheat free diet, rinsing my rice before cooking like the Japanese and none of it helped reduce flattulence. Now I'm 41, been on mostly carnivore for over a year and I rarely fart. Except for the times when I've indulged in pizza and oreos or a couple of binges last year at the Golden Corral, none of which produced the anticipated pleasure.

I agree 100% I used to eat various cereals every morning for breakfast as a child. My mom learned about these facts that you are stating decades ago back in the 80s and when she did she stopped buying cheerios and other cereals that we loved. I wasn't happy about it. After that, she only bought oatmeal, puffed rice, and puffed wheat. When I got older and lived on my own I would buy and eat cereal for breakfast. I didn't eat fruity pebbles or captain crunch and other kids' cereals. I thought I was selecting healthy cereals for breakfast. It's quick and easy. No cooking involved. Great for a quick morning meal when you are getting ready for work and in a hurry to get out the door. I started buying cheerios again like an idiot believing that the front of the box says "heart-healthy" with a big loving heart on the front of the box. Years ago after doing research I discovered that my mom was right. All these statements you are making are absolutely true and almost all of the cereals on the store shelf are not healthy at all. Completely loaded with tons of sugar and chemicals. Not healthy at all.

Howdy Dr Berry, Just touching on the glysophate topic. As a broad acre farmer myself, i know the agriculture game fairly well seeing as i work 6 days a week in the industry. I personally farm wheat, barely, canola, faba beans, lentils, and most importantly oats… While your statements are technically correct. Yes in the US you CAN spray glyphosate on oats. Most do not, Glyphosate CAN be used as a tool to control certain weeds in crop close to harvesting, most crops are not sprayed, glyphosate is expensive and operating a sprayer is also expensive why would we use a expensive glyphosate product to ripen a crop when the sun does it for us for nothing? In my years farming i to this day do not know of anyone using glyphosate in a crop of oats. But technically yes we CAN use glyphosate legally. That doesnt mean that every oat crop is sprayed. Id even argue that a very low % of crops have the chemical applied Out of all the chemicals i use on the farm glyphosate is 100% by far the safest one used, The green veg in the shops are sprayed with far far more toxic chemicals prior to harvest. Yet no one jumps up and down complaining about that because of those chemicals arnt made by “monsanto”. Love the channel. Your video’s have been a big help to me! Cheers.
