Great reaction. Queen Su, aged just 16 at the time, rising up from below the stage and courageous enough to follow that intro from the Kami Band - and not only to follow it but then making the stage her own. This was only the second time she had performed this song live - first time was the night before, but she made it look and sound like she'd been singing it for years. The Kami Band that night were Leda Cygnus (blue guitar), Takayoshi Ohmura (gold guitar), BOH (6 string bass) and Hideki Aoyama (drums). 'Rondo of Nightmare' is possibly their darkest song lyrically. Rondo is a musical term meaning something like a repeated theme. They have borrowed the term as Su is caught in a recurring nightmare being chased through the dark by something she can't see. Finally she hides in or by a well or a fountain but it is still coming closer and, accepting there is no escape, she asks that if she is to die won't it at least show itself first.

They were the touring band. Well established as top musicians in Japan with their own projects when they were not touring. They got to perform and visit cities all over the world because of 3 super talented teenage girls!!

You can see the Kami Band with another great intro on Catch Me If You Can at the same show. And again for Yava at another Show. I think its the 5 Fox Festival in I remember correctly. 🤘🦊🤘

Thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。"Rondo" is a musical form with a recurring leading theme. I can't tell how many times I have viewed this video. It is literally a rondo of happy dream for me. Kamis' (=Gods') super solos were excellent enough as a main event in the show, but once the 16-year-old Queen (as of 2014) emerged from the underground, she colored everything differently with her penetrating voice then turned Kami Band's plays into a ritual to summon her. This is the song I hope BM would revive someday with Su's matured voice.

Su has 4 solo songs - this one, No Rain No Rainbow, Amore and Akatsuki. The band is featured in a number of Babymetal videos you just haven't seen many of them yet. Akatsuki usually features the band more. It is true though that they have featured the band a lot less in recent years.

Catch me if you can, this one Rondo of Nightmare, Awadama Fever, and Kagerou are some of the most amazing live intros to those songs from the Kami Band that I have ever seen! You might want to find the other ones and react to those and you will be equally stunned! 🤘🤘🤘

Excellent reaction, thanks! Yeah, that instrumental intro, "Mischiefs of the Metal Gods", is indeed amazing and a great way to give every Kami Band member a moment to shine. Just to summon the Queen who finally emerges from the depths ... well, at least from the bottom of the stage. 😁 "Rondo of Nightmare" is probably their darkest song lyrically. It's about Su being trapped into an endless nightmare, without any chance to escape, and she's chased by a dark entity as she tries to run away and hide from. Finally she gives up and ask the entity to show its real nature. This was just the second time they performed it live (the first one was just the previous night at the same venue) and Su-metal, being 16 at the time, was standing by herself on a relatively small and high platform, without any safety and probably not being able so see a thing due the spotlight. Wonder why she's called the Queen? As you have been already told, she has other three "solo" songs and all of them are awesome. You say it ends too soon. The story behind the song is The person is being chased by an unseen entity. They try to hide but the entity finds them. so faced with their demise the person says something alongthe lines if I am going to die, at least show yourself.....then they wake up. I think the Kami band also has a brief intro on obe of the versions of "Catch me if you Can" and I believe this is another song with a slight intro. Also if you havent seen Road of Resistance (Live in Japan) the instruments are quite heavy throughour the song.

RON is one of Su's solos that allow her to show her individual talent and give the other two girls, Moa and Yui, a chance to rest. This concert is Budokan Black Night in 2014 so Su was just 16 years old. Maybe next listen to another one of their prog metal songs, "Tales of the Destinies at the Tokyo Dome". RON is a very dark song where Su is chased by something she cannot escape. The repetitive nature of a "rondo" makes this even more frightening and that's explicitly said in the lyrics. I think that the changing time signatures and dissonance of the music are there to make us feel uncomfortable and keep us off balance evoking the nightmare. The final chorus is as unsettling as the time signatures and offers no happy resolution: "It flickers slowly appearing and disappearing in my mind. A nightmare rondo is being repeated. The awakening light is gone far away out of my sight. I can do nothing but fall into the darkness." Some reviewers mention that the song ends very abruptly and that it's hard to settle into...the lyrics imply that there's no hope of waking, but that's often what you feel when you are in a nightmare and then you wake as suddenly as the song ends.

This is one of my favourite songs, at least top three. The complex rhythm, the heaviness, the sweet vocals (we even get a great little falsetto note from Su) make it a perfect song for me. Needless to say, the intro is absolutely fantastic as well. But the most fascinating aspect to me is the extent to which Su manages to draw the viewer / listener in. She has such an intense aura, it's incredible. I also like how they make it look like she is suspended in the air during that calmer part, the lighting almost makes the stage disappear.
