Babymetal usually perform in smaller venues overseas, but keep an eye out in case they hold another big arena show like they did at Wembley in the UK (2016) and The Forum in Los Angeles (2019). Otherwise, you'll have to visit Japan to see a big production like this. This footage is from their return-from-hiatus shows held on January 28 & 29 last month at the Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan. Metal Kingdom was the show opener and is the first track on their upcoming concept album The Other One (March 24, 2023).

Good first reaction and welcome to the BABYMETAL Fox Hole.🦊BABYMETAL formed in 2010 when the girls were aged just 12 and 11. They were originally a sub-unit of a JPop Idol group called Sakura Gakuin, but (and this is where you may have got the idea of them "ageing out" from since SG was for girls aged 10 to 15) they separated from SG in 2013 after Su-metal, the lead vocalist, turned 15. At that point they became an independent band in their own right - no ageing out, it was the three of them leaving their Idol roots and the Idol system behind (although the two younger girls, Yuimetal and Moametal, continued with SG while also touring with BABYMETAL until they also turned 15 in 2015). They released their first album in 2014. That included the songs they had performed while they were in Sakura Gakuin plus new songs for the album. The thing with Rob Zombie tweeting his photo and shutting his more idiotic fans down happened in 2016 - it re-emerges every year or two. Their second album was released in 2016 and their third in 2019. That album was the first ever by any Asian (not just Japanese) artist to take the number 1 spot on the US Billboard Hard Rock charts. This song 'Metal Kingdom' is the opening track from their 4th album which will be released on 24th March. It is pretty much an anthem being the intro to what will be some sort of concept album (they have plenty of other fast paced bangers - they have always mixed things up a lot). Of course they also used it for the huge, theatrical opening number for the concerts they played just three or four weeks ago and this was filmed at those - as the video was released less than a week after filming they have used the studio audio .... but it is still epic.🤘🦊🤘We will have to wait for the DVD for the live audio. BABYMETAL are Su-metal (lead vocalist) and Moametal (backing vocals, harmonies and in charge of the choreo and hyping the crowd). There were originally 3 members with Yuimetal who was basically Moametal's partner in leading the choreo, backing vocals and hyping the crowd. Sadly Yui last performed in October 2017 and after a 12 month absence for health reasons she left the band in October 2018. In live shows since 2019 Su and Moa were supported by 3 dancers (the Avengers Riho, Kano and Momoko) who would take turns to dance in the third spot. Momoko has been the Avenger for the last 27 concerts. It seems BABYMETAL may be adding a new third member in April - most people think it will be Momoko, but we do not know for sure. For live shows BABYMETAL are supported by the Kami Band (all male) - some of Japan's absolute best session musicians - they are all world class instrumentalists and they can play anything. This is just as well since BABYMETAL have over 50 songs and each one is different to the last. They all have their own projects or bands, so when dates clash other musicians fill in for them in the Kami Band, but the same hard core of about 6 musicians have been with BABYMETAL since 2014. You were right about the stages in this video, Su and the thrones were on the west stage, Moa started out from the east stage where the Kami Band were and they had the long walkway joining the two stages with the crowd either side. Also on the walkway was the moving stage that also rose and fell and the girls spent the majority of the show on that as they like to get as close to as many of the fans as they can while they're performing. There is no other band quite like BABYMETAL. They invented their own genre - a fusion of every sort of metal with pop originally but now they will mix or blend virtually any musical style or genre (you name it, they probably have done it) with the metal. They are the biggest and most successful Japanese band internationally of all time (there are bigger bands and artists domestically, but none are as well known or popular outside of Japan). They are also one of the very best live acts on the planet. For more reactions their official videos are all very good, but BABYMETAL are always at their best playing live with the Kami Band behind them too. The Legend 1997 live performance of 'Headbanger' is always a good start or 'Ijime, Dame, Zettai' live at Sonisphere 2014 in the UK to see what they can do on a bare festival stage without all the effects and production and how the won over 50-60k UK metalheads who were very confused about what they were about to see when the girls walked onto the main stage just 25 minutes earlier or maybe 'Road of Resistance' live in Japan. The trouble is they have over 50 songs, no fillers, some good hard metal others leaning towards their pop roots and everything in between, so you could pick any song - it is unlikely you might find one you don't like, but if so don't worry, pick another and the chances are it will be another new favourite.

Welcome back & thanks from Japan 有難う💛。 The maturity added more attractiveness to BABYMETAL. This video is from Makuhari shows on Jan.28 /29. I witnessed both shows at the venue. You saw one octagonal movable / elevatable stage but actually there were two identical stages for more surprising production. Several drones with camera were flying around all over the venue. Once this opening song by Su and Moa got started, I had goosebumps all over my body. The show was held after the almost 2-year long hiatus after all. Seriously many of audience were moved to tears and/or dropped their jaws when the gigantic fox wall opened and the thrones came out. Yeah! I chanted all through the song. ♪ Oh oh oh o o o ♪. What a happy experience!! The Kami band was playing on the east stage that was not captured in this video. After this grave opening, 3 girls performed 12 songs with Momoko Avenger. Did you see 3 (not 2) thrones at 05:43 in your video? Yeah, BM will change and return to 3-girl formation. The official 3rd girl is going to be unveiled in the next shows in Yokohama on April 1/2. Since YuiMetal left the group officially in 2018, the only front women and official members of this group are SuMetal (lead singer) and MoaMetal (backing chorus and dance), after that year you'll see backup dancers along with them but none of them have mic or sing, they only dance, but that might be change next April since they announced a new official member coming to get back the trio once again in full form. The band under BM lore is called Kami Band, they're the god of guitars, god of bass and god of drums, and they were send to help the girls with the metal sound, unofficially we already know who they are, during past era members rotate each other, especially the guitarists, one of them sadly passed away in 2018, (R.I.P. Mikio Fujioka). This is why BabyMetal have no match among any other Japanese artists, top notch worldwide. Many others are finding Game Of Thrones resemblance on this stage setup, it looks insane. The ten prophets are holding crosiers with "The Other One" logo which is similar to the infinite symbol "OO" and is the title of upcoming 4th album. The girls are carrying some kind of trident similar to the Spear Of Destiny or Lance Of Longinus from Evangelion anime series, if you know MoaMetal you know you got be careful with her. 🔱 At the end of January at Makuhari Messe they held two great live shows returning to the stage after almost two years. and by far they meet up my expectations with this epic live performance and top notch production. SuMetal and MoaMetal showing why they're a queen and princess deserving their thrones. The cinematic drone shots are just insane. We were expecting this live proshot version but we'll have to wait next month for live sound. We got so many big news and announcements, a new official member is coming (most likely Momoko Okazaki, the one who has been performing with them all these years and latest live concerts) next live shows in April 1 (Fox Day) when returning once again with another headlining shows at PIA ARENA MM Yokohama. Also they performed with a new BM mirror unit coming from another world of this metalverse, so we're guessing maybe some of the older kawaii metal songs they don't play anymore will be back with this new unit, so stay tuned for more but like always OTFGK. There was some minor issues when SuMetal was singing this live a little bit off, apparently an IEM issue or something but is all good coz we all know it's been a while since performing live and is the premiere of this song, pretty sure next live shows will be better. Great reaction guys. Currently there are only two originals, Su-metal (singer) and Moametal (scream and dance). This video was from their first live (Jan. 28/29) in 2 years (the audio is the studio, at the show they had problems with the audio.) There is a new album (4th) coming out on March 23th. This is the opening song of the show and also the new album. They also released two more songs from the new album - Divine Attack and Monochrome (both are on their channel in the Playlist section).

I believe Su and Moa have been waiting for Yui's return ever since Yui left BABYMETAL 5 years ago for health reasons. A third member will be announced at the live concert on April 1, but we fans will never forget Yui. Of course, we will support whoever the new member will be with all our might.

I was at the shows in Tokyo where this was filmed and I can tell you that the view was excellent. I was kind of in the middle and I could see the stages at each end, and the moving platform which the girls spent most of the show moved up and down the hall so that they were performing right in front of them for at least part of the show. It was mindblowingly good and well worth traveling to Japan to see them. Regarding Metal Kingdom itself, it serves as an overture, both to the album, where it is the first track, and to the concert, where it was played as the show opener. In both cases, it is immediately followed by Divine Attack, which is the banger payoff for the buildup in Metal Kingdom. It's pretty clear that they are intended to be played together, and if you look at the lyrics, they thematically relate to each other as well.

Nice reaction. This is the first song on their new album due out in March. It was also the first song they performed since the covid lockdowns in Japan. The next song they did was their first release from the new album. Divine attack. Here we have the regal return of her majesties Su and Moa. Yui left way back in 2018. You guys missed a lot. Like maybe their whole 3rd album. I would suggest going back and reacting to that. Yui left before that album came out. They used some back up dancers in her place. They didn't sing. For the main part of the tour, they used back up dancers they called the avengers. Yes they were three friends of theirs, but they can all dance and sing. But here they just danced. Riho was in Actors school of Hiroshima with Su when they were younger. Riho has since released a solo jpop album. Kano and Momoko are from Sakura Gakuin. The Jpop group that Babymetal started in together. Kano went on to have her own group. and released a jpop album. the group is called @1five. They were all 15 when it formed. Momoko has done most of their shows. And all of the shows since the other two left. She even did the return shows the Metal Kingdom video is from. They hinted that they may add another member in April. While Yui would be first in line for the job. Many including myself think it will be Momoko. She's worked hard for the job and fits in well with them. Babymetal lead has always been Su. The only time it wasn't was when they did the Black Babymetal songs which were the duo of Yui and Moa. And Su got to take a break. Since Yui left Moa has done some of those songs by herself. She's cool like that. Su has four solo songs without them. So, they can take a break. In Metal Kingdom. Moa is actually singing a lot more than you realize. One of the reasons Yui and Moa were added into Babymetal was because of their compatible voice to Su's. These days Moa sounds even more like her. making it hard to hear her unless you know her voice well enough. And she still leads the chants. So, most of that was Moa on top of the chanting part. Since Yui left Moa has been given more to do vocally. Before Moa and Yui had lines of their own and sang with Su every now and then. Moa since the third album has sections of songs she sings and does a lot of the backup harmonies. Before Su did backing tracks and those were used mostly for the harmonies. While Moa said she focused on her dancing since Yui left. It's obvious that she has done a lot of vocal work as well. You may now enter the Metal Kingdom. See You.

Suzuka Nakamoto has always been the main vocalist. Yui Mizuno left the group in 2018. That is the only change. They have two new songs 'Divine Attack' and 'Monochrome' both better songs imo. 'Health reasons' were the reason given for Yui's departure. She was not forced out. They would make so much money if she came back you can't even imagine. Yui was the most popular. If Yui came back they could book the Tokyo Dome for a month.

There are three thrones and three crystal coffins on the stage, so they do have three members. Although we only saw the figure of the third member, we couldn't see her face clearly, and we didn't know her name.🦊

"Replacing older girls by new members" is actually kind of a rule in Japanese girls groups (or "idol groups"), however, it's applied to bigger groups that have more than dozen members, such as AKB84 and Morning Musume. When it comes to smaller ones, 3-5 members, such as Perfume, Momoiro Clover Z and Babymetal, it is not.

I like Babymetal, especially their earlier songs which were more eclectic and diverse. It’s a pity they sound more like a regular metal band now. Still good, but not so special anymore. And next to that I always thought Babymetal would change into Babemetal at some point and become a little bit more edgy and maybe sexier.
