Although we were ready for warmer weather, this beautiful spot is sure in the middle of nowhere! We certainly don't mind that, but since we're getting around by foot, we've learned to rely on the tiny corner stores, farmer's markets, and minimal restaurants for most of our needs. The lovely people and delicious food are amazing, and it's causing us to be thankful for the simple things in life. Enjoy!

I was pretty set on Progreso but will give Chelem a look see, especially for a 10 peso bus ride.

I love Chelem, way prettier and quiet than Progreso, is one of the most beautiful gems that Yucatan have to offer, I only was there for a day last week but Im already looking forward to come back in July.

I really appreciate your video, I love that you don’t trash the place Because is simple and small.the locals offer what hey have. Tourist shouldn’t expect locals to acomódate to them; the place will loose its their charm. I visited Progreso two weeks ago,Progreso is busy and loud, I will try to visit Chelem next time.

Thank you! It's not for everyone, for sure. We enjoyed Progresso, but only in limited quantities. We hope you're able to visit Chelem!

Great video. Wife and I are moving in April or May of 2022 to that area. Thank you for the insight. Chelem has long been my favorite. You may have confirmed that.

Wow how fortunate you are there! We are planning to move from Bali to Mexico by ends of year's and Yucatan is one of the places we will visit to finally decide where to establish. Loveee Chelem so far...❤

Yes, we feel blessed! It's beautiful, small, and quaint, but there are some basics that can be challenging. Be sure to watch the Chelem AirBnB Tour vlog, to see the challenges we had to overcome. Enjoy your travels!

That was crema not sour cream, which the locals use a lot. Sour cream is also available here. You'd be shocked if you returned. The amount of construction that's happening all along the beach is incredible! "Bug," hahaha - Anne

We found out how to find sour cream from a local. Very much appreciated! We hope that the improvements are good for the locals; they're all so nice. Some people we met while there are actually building their own place now, so we believe it.👍

Thanks for the video, we're planning on spending about a month there soon. Question -- did you have any issues with your drone ? I read that it is illegal unless its under 250 grams.

Many stores have limited hours, and are closed during the heat of the afternoon (siesta time). Also, this was filmed in early 2021, so it's possible that some businesses were permanently closed, due to the lack of travelers for so long.

Why would anyone go all the way to Mexico and eat american and not mexican...you can eat the same thing here in the US...lol...

We absolutely love Mexican food, but we also enjoy other options. We're traveling full time, and not going back to the US, so we definitely miss some things from home. :)

There is a sizable group of foreigners who live here full time. Plus, while fish is awesome, sometimes it's nice to mix it up a bit. Nobody eats burgers everyday in the states.
