@@randymarsh2901 60m for a player that is on a final year contract. I still think that 60m would have been better spent buying a world class striker. This team is so out of depth in the striker area, last season it was the defence that bailed us out not the offense. The midfield is the least of the problems. Now with FPP, you have 60m less to spend on a goalkeeper and a world class striker. If you are just getting a striker that scores 20 goals, you won't improve from 3rd. You need someone that is going to scoring 30 goals and that 60m is the difference.

I will just add that certain players under certain managers will be maximized and achieve their highest results. That will probably be the case with Mount. With him playing alongside Bruno and United having two midfielders who press so well and are so industrious off the ball, plus ten Hag pushing both of them to continue to develop their passing, I expect United will be significantly better this season. And by the time Mount is done in red he might be thought of a bit better than he is right now coming off his Chelsea years. Because of that maximizing effect he should get from ten Hag.

More wishful thinking. They will do well against teams that afford them the space in midfield but will struggle against quality teams as usual. United were second best in most of their games against arsenal, city, newcastle and liverpool last season.

"Develop their passing"... you develop your passing in the youth academies not in the PL. Mount essentially is a poor mans Bruno Fernandes, good final third pressing & goal threat/ chance creation. Their both attrocious in passing & holding the ball under pressure in contested midfield areas. In simpler terms they don't have the qualities required to be good midfielders, they can be effective secondary strikers though.

The club offered him a contract in Feb and approached him same time Reece signed. He wanted to go. Given the fact the player didn't want to be there and wasn't going to sign. The club did well. We have lost far better players and still continue to win things. Granted was under Roman, but not overly worried. Id be more disappointed if we lost James or Colwill. Plenty of players globally who can do what Mount does.

Chelsea was not in situation to agree anything during the ban…there were discussions happening with previous regime for both James and Mount but couldn’t conclude by the time ban came in…James agreed his deal with new owners but Mount couldn’t so what the hell is Tuchel supposed to do here when he himself got sacked soon after season began..Think at times before you speak Mr. Jordan!

In the quarter final they got schooled by seville got 4th by default with Chelsea Liverpool and spurs having poor seasons. With Chelsea building a team with the best 19-20 year old players on the market if they live up to their potential then he’s made a huge mistake. A player of the year 2 out of the last 3 years with stats like Lampards could’ve been a Chelsea legend.

Mount cannot play as 6, 8 or 10. He is very incomplete and therefore NOT a midfielder. Mount is a forward, and not a very creative or consistent one either.

I know that nobody owes the club anything but lampard gave him a quick break at derby and then a quick break at chelsea and ensured he played every single game. Then came tuchel who saw those performances and desire and didn't drop him contrary to proper opinion. His break at chelsea was so aligned in terms of stars etc with the transfer ban and he turned on us at first opportunity when things went south for a season. Thanks for the contributions in the UCL but we won't miss you

As a Chelsea fan. And only speaking for me. With that said, I'm not mad nor am I sad that Mason Mount left us for Man Utd. I've rated him since he broke through and others didn't. The majority of the toxic fans we have didn't rate or like him so there's no reason they should have an issue that his a Utd player.

Seen that narrative a few times where people say stuff like "he would suit Liverpool's style more than United's" While that's true for last year, I don't think last year's United were playing ETH's preferred style and the one he's moving toward. Concessions were made last year due to the team he had and player limitations. After the first couple of games we stopped trying to force De Gea to play out from the back as much because he couldn't. With Onana hopefully joining this week you'd imagine that's about to change Same with the midfield, Erikson didn't have the legs to perform the press heavy, 8/10 hybrid role ETH used in his last years at Ajax. It was so bad that Erikson only completed 90 minutes once after Xmas. Last year's style seemed more practical than a choice
