Given the vastness of Dimash's ability to sing his neoclassical genre which include contemporary, opera, folk and the list goes on, PLEASE consider showing 2 songs to your friends. They don't understand his uniqueness with only one song! Dimash is a once in a generation to multigenerational singer. Introducing them to 2 songs will give them a hint of how special Dimash is. I'm not a dear but a huge fan who sings and has played instruments. I'm also a scientist so I understand how rare it is to have genetics randomly create such perfect physiological structures throughout Dimash's vocal and airway structures, then have the rarity of such an individual to have such an enormous drive for vocal perfection AND then be born into such a musical family!!! We may never see the likes of such a singer again! Please consider this. Thank you so much for introducing him to your friends. 🙏🏻

This song and performance is one of my faves. Thanks for showing it to your friend and for continuing to spread the word about Dimash. Apart from the rain stick, the other instruments are traditional Kazakh instruments. The 2-stringed instrument is a kobyz and the side blown flute is a sybyzgy. And, yes, the song is in Kazakh. It’s a sad song about a young Kazakh man conscripted into the Russian Tsar’s army and he is lamenting leaving behind his elderly parents and his beloved country perhaps never to see them again. There are English subtitles on the version on Dimash’s official KZfaq channel.

„ Samal Tau is a historical song. 1916... World War I...The Russian Tsar issues a decree on the draft of Kazakhs aged 19-39 years in the army. Samal Tau is the song of these recruits. The place where they came from was called "Samal Tau" in the North Kazakhstan region. The name of the author is not preserved in the memory of the people. The song contains the words: “We wander tired, very tired for 15 days, almost reached Omsk. Samal Tau, where I was born and raised, was left behind. Elderly parents stayed at home. How are they supposed to live without me? ". The song also has information about the age of the author. He is a little over two mushels old. He was born in the year of the cow, which means in 1888, so he is 28 years old.“ (Cr. Dimash Multicultural Club) Knowing this about the song listen to it again. The instrumentation at the beginning… you can hear the heavy footsteps of the wandering soldier, howling wolf, crying eagle, blowing wind, rain…

What a shame that he did not have the captions on. Knowing what the song is about makes it more impressive. Especially the part where the beat copies that of steady drag your feet marching. It is such a shame that you don't read comments or can't be bothered to put together a cheat sheet about any of the artists you introduce but I am pleased that you are introducing Dimash around to music people. Samaltau was an excellent choice. 🥰🥰🥰🇨🇦

Nice video as always. Thanks Yes, this song is in Kazakh That song runs through his veins. The player made the Kobyz (that violin/tchello like) sound almost crying because is a sad, melancholic though angry song complaining for when their country got virtually empty of young men when the russian Tzar ordered first that the horses and later that Kazakhstani men from 19 to 39 should be enlisted forcefully as soldiers and then driven like animals to fight, walking thousands of miles leaving old parents and children behind in a harsh land. From unknown composer, lyrics gives a clue about his origin: Samal tau; North of Kazakhstan; and a clue about his age: “born in the year of the cow” 1888. The author would be 28 y.o. when the first W.W began for him in 1916, as they count from year of the cow (1888) to year of the cow (1910). They use the Tengrian Calendar A song that could not be sung in the times when Kazakhstan was part of the Soviet Union Dimash took it back to big international stages.

In the beginning I feel it's the wood, the air, the ocean, the wind.. is screaming for ... peace and help. I get emotional.. Dimash is very proud of his county and culture. He rarely gives interview but once they asked him "are you rich? He said "I have my folk, my land, my family, yes I am very rich!!" Please do a reaction to " the show must go on " by Queen. Dimash had to learn English one week before to sing this song in the competition "The singer" in China. I think Freddy Mercury would be proud. Dimash makes it his own, like skways! Greetings from Norway ❤

THANKS for your reactions to Dimash!!!!……Samale Mountain is a sad song about a young soldier. He sing about what will happen with his family when He goes away about Mountain and Sea. This a tresure song of kazakhstan and Dimash sing this like no one. The musical instrument is from Kazajistán and name KOBIZ of two strings, Using folk arrangements like “SYBYZGI”, beautiful Kazakh wind instrument. This live performance with his instrumentalists friends is a firm favourite of mine. His live singing is impeccable like always, even sitting cross legged on a piano stool. Streamed from his home, his music room it wen down a storm at his first appearance at the Tokio Jazz Festival although he was disappointed when it was canceled he was overjoyed when they decided to livestream it. 👉Samaltau (names a beautiful place. In Kazakhstan, many women's names have 'samal' as the first syllable) Mountain breeze Mountain breeze, my amazing country, my endless lake, What days await me as a soldier, You keep coming into my mind from time to time, My amazing homeland, where I was born and raised I wasn't riding, I was walking, Even slower than walking, Been strolling for 15 days In the direction of Omsk I'm at the age of two cycles, the year of the cow By the will of Fate, I went farther away Mountain breeze, my amazing country, you're left behind From the hollow field, we are the only ones I had parents, Of progressed age, Since this song was written, It's been 16 years. Mountain breeze, my amazing country, my endless lake, What days await me as a soldier

KAzakhistan is an Turkic Republic. Turkic means, in middle Asia there are many Turkish based peoples. Its about 20. And the nearest to Europe is Türkiye (as former name Turkey). And this is an ancient Kazakh sign. They use local folkloric instruments. The string at the beginniing sounds like wolf is crying in the nature. From shamanistic times.
