Ok, she is definitely insecure about many things and hates people like Brittany Spears who can't sing to save their lives. So she was about 50 y/o here. Midlife crisis? In "Celebrity World" that can be VERY old. All depends on your audience and what you do as entertainment etc. You, of course, know that she has had plenty of face work done not to mention she had her teeth fixed. Just google "sonny and cher show" or similar and check the images. She was always beautiful except for her teeth. But gravity does take its toll.

They both had/have very carefully crafted personas that differentiate them from run-of-the-mill pop singers. They both found out that mixing a little bit of being yourself with a lot of iconoclastic imagery and publicity went a really long way. And thank the cosmos for BOTH of them! Enough said.

suckittomcat yes your right Cher has been a star twice as long (perhaps longer) as I've been alive. But I knew who Cher was when I was like 3 cuz she's one of my mothers favorite singers. I remember when believe came out (I was probably 4 or 5) and my mother had a cassette tape of Turn Back Time on Cher's workout video. My mother also had the camel candle holder from Cher's catalog. So maybe I haven't been alive that long but I'm very well aware of a lot of the classic superstar musicians. Don't judge me cuz of my youth.

klassicalmuzik Not judging. I'm pleasantly surprised. That's one of the reasons utube is great. You guys can sample artists from decades ago. Once you click on one, Big Brother suggests more for you which is not such a bad thing. :-) Music these days has taken quite a turn for the worse. Add to that, I had to live through all that depressing alternative rock crap too.
