Hi Sandra. I’m making a granny square blanket at the moment but with much larger squares. I seem to be taking ages on it though. I’m interested in EPP (or EEEEEEP) too. Have a book but just haven’t had a chance to get started. I think I will make a start over the Christmas period. I have your blanket pack too but been so busy with the granny blanket that I haven’t started yet. But it’s not going anywhere so plenty of time. Looking forward to your next pod with Sam. Hope she’s feeling bright. Love your longer hairstyle too. Looking forward to Vlogmas. Lesley x

Thank you for another beautiful and informative podcast! You taught me what English paper piecing is today 💡 I am working on the border of the Nature's Walk blanket and my Husband likes it very much 🤗 Looking forward to watching your blog for your new pattern releases. Purchasing some of your patterns is what I plan on doing as a little treat for myself this winter ❄️ Love your terrarium idea! I am going to be doing something similar only with making the cactus/succulents from the book you suggested on your podcast. Thanks again for your podcast, patterns and being such a wonderful inspiration! I really adore all things 🍒 ❤️!

Oh thank you so much! Oh yes, I'd forgotten about the cactus idea... the mushroom put me off a bit! 😂 I think cactus will work better, although I really have less space than I thought in mine, so I may need a re-think. I hope yours works out nicely! ❤️

Enjoyed the show today. The project bags with embroidery are to die for, love them, love them. I like your idea on the Advent gifts, especially thing them back into the 4 candles, from the 4 Sundays in Advent. I look forward to seeing those ideas and a taste of what looked like meringue shells.

The quilt looks just right for a seven year old. My daughter is very nearly eight, and I could see her really liking the colours and patterns! And it was such fun seeing your sewing and EPP. I’m doing quite a bit of sewing at the mo myself, and I’m really considering learning EPP...I just hope I’m patient enough to learn it! 😂

Oh thank you, so much, that does help put my mind at rest! Phew! It wasn't so long ago I had a seven year old, but they move on and it seems I forget so quickly! Yes I suppose patience is definitely needed for EPP, although for some reason, even though I normally get frustrated with slow progress, I don't mind the pace of this... weird! 😂

I watched the podcast working on Row 5 of the Nature Walk CAL border. The border is taking longer, I think, that all the squares. :) But it's turning out beautifully! It's such a lovely pattern. I've never heard of English Paper Piecing so I'll be watching to see what you do with it. Thanks for another great podcast.

Love watching your podcasts. Coming from a quilter try a multicoloured pink that may match the binding fabric would tie it altogether. Love watching your progress on the filet blanket even though it wasn’t in this podcast. Love your hexes too.

For the terrarium, try making the base for your mushrooms out of velvet or some other fuzzy moss like fabric for the top piece and a dirt colored fabric for the bottom piece. Add some small pebbles to the terrarium first then add the other, it will look more realistic that way. I'm in the mood to craft for Christmas as well, although I'm not as smart as you with the gifts. lol Have a great day!
@CherryHeart
@CherryHeart 4 жыл бұрын
Yes I think you are right, a thinner, fabric style base would definitely be the way to go for the mushrooms and the pebbles are a good idea too. I was thinking some sort of 'moss' would be good too. Maybe it's worth a re-try, but I think I might hold on and do a Christmas theme now, and then re-think in Spring! ;)

I think a simple shell or picot border would be lovely on your tiny granny square blanket and would soften the edges. Love those little bags with the embroidery, although the one with the taller flowers seems like summer to me - taller, thicker growth? Enjoyed visiting with you as always.
@CherryHeart
@CherryHeart 4 жыл бұрын
Yes I'm thinking I don't want to go too fussy with the border too... I'm having a little play with ideas now and I think something simple. Yes, that's true the flowers are more abundant, that would indicate summer wouldn't it! ❤️

For the border, have you thought of just a row of the middle encircling the Afghan and then just a single crochet edge of the main color?

I love paper piecing but when I did it ( in the days of Laura Ashley tiny floral prints) I used cereal boxes for the templates not actual paper. I’m not sure how easy it would be to fold the fabric over paper. What do you use ? Brilliant podcast as usual. Thank you. X
@CherryHeart
@CherryHeart 4 жыл бұрын
Oh my goodness, that takes me back, I remember cutting out bit of cereal box for it too!! Although I don't know how we would have sewn through that?? I'm sure I remember the tacked stitches on the front too... 🤔 The paper I used for these is a heavier weight to be fair. I'm not sure of the exact weight, it's not stiff at all but it's definitely not your average printer paper type stuff either. I think you're right, normal thin paper would be a lot harder to work with, but this is about perfect tbh. It's just nice a flexible enough to slip out of the fabric afterwards too.

Hello Sandra - I watch every podcast and I never saw a mushroom. Am I losing my mind. Come visit me. I was communicating with Claudia about your meet up with her. Would love to join the UK women for your Xmas meet up but ??? I have pneumonia now... ug... and will only be back in Europe (A’dam) Dec 15. Again, everything is beautiful and I am thinking to buy the Stylecraft kit for the blanket just to be part of your CAL and the squares are so beautiful. The Scheepjes I can get in NL but it’s a bit too expensive now to buy the kit because I’ve been very bad (or good?) with shopping. It’s the pneumonia that makes me buy stuff. Ahh it’s all so lovely. It’s like you’re the china and I’m the bull in the shop. ‼️‼️😉

I think I showed them in the last podcast... 🤔 Only one or two, so it was pretty brief! Ahh lovely Claudia, isn’t she a sweetheart? Sorry to hear about the pneumonia, that must be quite rough, I hope you will be feeling better soon. Is there a Xmas meet up?! I’m so behind on pods at the moment I’m probably out of the loop if there is one being talked of, but it’s a good idea though! I hope you enjoy the nature’s Walk if you do de use to go for it... it was a fun one to create that’s for sure. ❤️
