I owe this man so much! As a favour to my dad in 1980, Nev came around to give me a few pointers (me being a 16 year old fledgling guitarist). He didn't bother me with such pesky annoyances as chords, instead showing me the naughty stuff - the fun stuff such as Tritonic scales. This was before I could even play in C major. It coloured my sense of harmony forever. When I think about it, so much of my work over 40 years has been based on what I learned from Nev on that one visit. I will always be thankful that he got his hands on me at such an early stage.

Wow! I always found Punilux Guitar work so crimsonesque but never knew if it was just me...little did i know! Not only heavily influenced by Fripp, he even had meetings with him.

Phantastic! I saw Punilux in germany in the early 80's (Markthalle, Hamburg). "Laughing Academy" became one of my top ten alltime favourite albums (and still is nowadays) and when I saw the 2011 youtube gig movies, I wanted to see them playing live or get "5" at least. No chance because of no information. - Now I saw this interview. I just ordered the CD-Set. Just made my day. Pleasepleaseplease get yourself a website! It's so important...

I was there at Reading. There was a MASSIVE fight at the front after they started. To this day I think it was the incredible energy and odd rhythms of their music That kicked it off. I didn't know about the 5CD box. Just bought it. Can't wait. Acoustics in your interview room are very echoey.. Very hard to understand for those of us with tinnitus.

Great interview. I have always thought THE PUNISHMENT OF LUXURY was the, and still is the best name of a band ever. Nice to hear about the origin. I was lucky enough to see them live , after hearing them on Peel. God bless, and last but no means least, STAY AWAY FROM PEOPLE DRESSED IN WHITE ARMED WITH SYRINGES.

During the late 70s, very weekend l used to attend Punk gigs at the ‘Rock Garden’ Club in Middlesbrough. Saw many great bands, Punishment of Luxury was one of the most innovative and exciting bands l saw. The energy and theatre of the band was amazing. Laughing Academy is a great album and much underrated. I was lucky, l saw them live TWICE!

For some reason, I did n`t get into them when they were about in the late 70s, not sure why I had n`t heard them on Peel. Best make up for lost time.
