It's not like Man United were paperweights before Alex Ferguson took the reins. Prior to his arrival, they had 7 League Titles, 6 FA Cup titles, and 1 European Cup to their credit. Sustained success isn't exactly an easy thing to maintain in professional sports. It's not like Liverpool has exactly been lighting up the football world since King Kenny's departure in 1990. Heck, Kenny couldn't even replicate that success in his brief return.

Absolute bollox! For a start it wasn't McDermot's tackle on McMaster it was Ray Kennedy, and it wasn't even a foul, nor was it given as one by the ref. Kenny was an absolute genius footballer and I was lucky to watch him play from 1978 to 1987. I remember a game at Anfield against West Brom and the Albion had parked the bus. Frustrated us all afternoon, until late on. Kenny had his back to two defenders and dipped to his right, then to his left. He spun and made a tiny bit of space on the edge of the area. A low shot placed trickled toward the far post and I watched in agony as the ball clipped the post and nestled into the net. I was directly behind the path of the ball on the Kop and we went nuts.
