@@myakhoneither, he was joking because seeing one self as a villain can be fun. Or he could be referencing that some snobby people don't like him because he caters to noobs which is "damaging" to chess. I disagree that levy's approach damages chess, growing the game and bringing in new talent can only be a good thing, but I've heard it said.

Great commentary and coverage of the case. Unbiased coverage of a case from start to finish with all the necessary details to keep an uninformed viewer up to speed. The steps taken to ensure a family friendly viewing experience was also of great quality. Furthermore, I believe the summarization between sections was a great detail to give a neat "TL;DR" section. This is of help to the people with not much time on their hands, who also wish to familiarize themselves with the contents of the video. My main critique on the structure and/or contents of the video is the slightly non-neutral backdrop. In the summarization sections of the video, it can take away from the focus on you.

The problem, as Levy states, is that we can never know. All the evidence for his cheating is not concrete, however dubious the data looks. And a prior record doesn't confirm or deny anything. Meanwhile Hans himself has no way of confirming his innocence despite his recent rise other than "chess speaks for itself", only, if he was cheating, the chess would always be in his favour so the chess proves nothing anyway. I think the game he played was suspicious, I think if he is honest he got quite lucky by studying the exact line he played very recently before the game, and I think that if he did cheat, he probably stopped as soon as he got under pressure. But, as I say, we can never know for sure unless we get a confession, because there's no way to prove his innocence here

Yknow what I wanna see, a chess tournament where cheating is allowed, only if you don't get caught, if you get caught, you're just disqualified with no permanent effects, and at the end of the tournament, the top 4 who didn't get caught reveals what they did to cheat. People can so creative, I wanna see how they express that creativity.

I would say that if someone is proven to be cheating they get suspended from tournament play for at least 1 year up to 5 years depending on their age and how egregious it was. After that if they are caught again then a permanent should be instituted. Everybody gets 1 time with a punishment based on age and level of offense. After that, it’s goodbye forever.

Im fine with Hans coming back as long as an eye is kept on him. I think it totally fair that a known cheater is watched a little more closely then your average player.

but it is undoubtedly not fair for your win to be overlooked by a relatively outrageous claim that you cheated it, and for you to get banned from the majority of events, along with a global-scale bad rep from millions of memes spreading misinfo, just because you're pretty average in other games

@@ghetoknight7801it’s not fair? He cheated over and over on chesscom after being caught and saying he wouldn’t do it again. He needs to take responsibility that he brought it all on himself. Also analysis of his games is obviously questionable

If you cheat at an official event where you were either paid or you earned rating points then that should just simply be banned altogether. Hans most likely cheated a lot more than what he admitted to, it obviously wasn't just when he was 12.

In SC2 they banned Life forever for one matchmaking game. And Life wasn't a no name. He was the most popular player at the time. And it was a good signal to each and everyone player at the field. So, you cheated once - you're banned for life. This is how it should work.

I understand knowing Hans cheated in the past makes it uneasy to play against him. But at the same, if every adult was to made fully accountable for things they did as a kid, a lot of us would be cancelled or worse There's a reason a lot of things require you to be age 18 or higher, it's because kids or just plain stupid.

That's technically correct but also a bit disingenuous, after all he's not an "adult who did a terrible thing as a kid many year ago" but a 20 year old (who just turned 20) who admited to cheating online during his teen years. Not entirely the same. Again, that is technically true but I completely understand why people are very reactionary about playing him.

absolutesly! Since cheating is not a crime and the most severe punishment is "ban", Hans has nothing to lose! Even with complete online and onboard ban/ nobody wants to play with him/, he has a story to tell. A book to write. It's a fascinating plot - i can see Netflix contracts and a trol community eager for more gastrointestinal content!
