Since I started making these videos in 2017, I have been lucky enough to receive the support of some manufacturers with materials to use in my videos. Since May 2018, Chestnut Products have provided me with stains, an iridescent paints sample set, lacquers and waxes. I'd like to thank them for their kind and generous support. Martin Saban-Smith has provided me with a sample set of Intrinisic Colours.
All other products and tools, unless where indicated, have been bought from suppliers at retail prices. Products mentioned in my videos are for information purposes so that viewers know what I have used.

Buffing really does make a difference. I have the Beall system and use it quite a lot.

Good to know! Haven't tried it on resin before.....years ago I got some compounds and mops from the polishing shop when I was making resin pens...didn't much like the smell of polyester resin so quickly moved on to polyurethane instead!

A properly buffed up piece is wonderful to the touch, nothing like it. I did think you were generous with the compounds, particularly the first. Perhaps your wheels aren't fully loaded in yet, but I find the briefest touch to the spinning mop is enough. But I'm known as a parsimonious type anyhow. Good luck with the auction.

I do need to get myself a buffing wheel set. Have toyed with the idea of making one, but not yet got round to it.

Nice! I've been using the Beal buffing system for a number of years now. That system not only has whee!s for the exterior of a bowl but also optional mops for the interior. Lacquer and poly finishes buff up to a high shine. Most everything I make from cribbage boards and boxes to magic wands get buffed after the finish has cured. Makes a huge difference in appearance and feel. After the walnut oil on my bowls has cured, they get buffed as well. I always look forward to your posts.

Thank you! I should have mentioned that Chestnut Products do mops for their mandrels as well. I should use my system a bit more!

I've been using the chestnut system for a while with excellent results. I also use it over some coloured finishes such as intrinsic dyes or chestnut spirit stains with good results. It will destroy most paint based finishes, though, as I've learned from hard experience. Nice explanation, Stewart.

Cheers, Jim....I once tried it on a painted surface.....hmmmm........but on lacquer and hardened oil surfaces it works great!
