In this you will see the refresh, refurbish, of original timing cover and crankshaft pulley. You will also see a comparison with a new timing cover as an option for replacement instead of the original part. You will see the complete refresh of the old components, including the removal and replacement of the timing cover seal. Thanks to your videos, I have successfully replaced my timing chain, cover and harmonic balancer. I actually powder coated the old timing cover Chevy Orange (Eastwood Atomic Orange) with their gun and an old oven. It’s remarkably easy and great results! Now to move onto the water pump, oil pan, oil pump and rear seal, transmission pan and gasket. I am going to replace the shifter seal and the shaft “since I’m in there”.

Wow and super impressive! Results seem amazing ...honestly I wish my engine was an orange 350 vs the blue version...the orange looks way better. Best of success with all the work that you have planned. I'm wating for a part to finish up my latest project which was a refresh or the stab bar....the mounting bracket and bushing is taking at least 4 weeks to arrive ....no stock apparently. It's a lot of work to get to the point to install the seal, so might as well do it right. It would really suck to do the work and not notice how the seal could get damaged during install...and then have to do it all over again. Thanks for you comment btw.

Just before reinstalling the timing cover, did you place the black rubber tab at the bottom of the cover?

Curious - are you able to remove the timing belt cover with the oil pan in place, or does the oil pan need to be removed first?

Yes, you can , but it is a bit tricky. You need to undo the first few screws around the front of the pan where it the timeline cover is , that will give you enough slack to get the cover off. Be aware of these little tabs on the bottom of the timing cover that may have to be removed when you re-install the timng cover though. Not a simple job, but doable .

Blue is nicer! That chrome will corrode before you get out of the garage
