I’ve owned both and currently have a 2021 RANGER XLT. The Colorado definitely has a more of a premium feel over the Ranger but even with its V6 it’s not as quick out of the gate and is more sluggish getting up to speed. They both have about the same amount of interior leg room but the Colorado has more storage in the cabin. The new Rangers have a lot more ground clearance than the Colorado which is great almost has a stock lifted look. The stock sound system in the Ranger is really nice lots of base and the voice controls are responsive. Chevrolet has some of the worst warranty service I’ve ever experienced and this was at multiple dealerships. Im hoping the Rangers 4cyl turbo holds up over the years not really sure how well it will hold up if you consistently push it max towing. I will say though the Ranger 100% feels like you’re driving a truck you feel every pothole and bump almost like you’re driving a bouncy house on wheels. I still prefer my new Ranger over the Colorado definitely more fun to drive.

Although I'm still wary of the long-term reliability of turbo engines, the Ranger is likely to be more reliable over time, and looks much better.

Price is why I got a Colorado, got a used 2020 LT with 15k miles for 26k, most Ford dealers wanted 30k for a same year & mile range for a ranger

I just returned from a 5669.8 mile trip with a average 23.6 mpg traveling from Florida to Jackson hole wy. Drove through Yellowstone, Montana, Utah, Idaho, Colorado, Texas, and multiple other states. I drove a 2018 Chevy Colorado Z71 4x4 over 12-14 thousand foot peaks. No problems at all.

I own a 2019 Colorado with all the trimmings and have driven both and feel the complete opposite of what you said. I feel the Colorado is more solid of a feel than the ranger but I do like both trucks. Maybe for my next ill get the ranger

As someone who has owned a few turbo's, (GTI, Chevy Cruze) and is looking to buy a midsize truck, I am pretty wary of the turbo. I have had problems with both turbos I have owned. I am also curious, as someone who has never owned either and has no real horse in the race, am I the only one who thinks the Colorado looks significantly better? I don't even hate the Ranger look, and I do appreciate the extra clearance, but that Chevy looks slick.

Ranger has caught my eye for several years. Not bloated looking. I simply prefer its looks. “Tidy”. I definitely do not want larger size nor harder to park half ton, I do not wish to pull anything and just very light loads in bed, I’m a retiree. I’ve test driven both 2022 Ranger and Colorado recently. Love both their sharp turning radius’. Colorado seemed a little less wind noise and less intrusive ride over bumps, of course some basic Chevy hard plastic inside, makes a Chev a Chev. Ranger 10 speeds, I’m not very wild about feeling a lot of shift points, seems like 6 or 7 ought to do it for either. What can possibly go wrong with additional complexity? With that thought, I nod to non-turbo for long haul, which is disappearing soon 2023 Colo/Canyon, but their turbo coming is massive torque, I think near 100 ft. lbs. more than 22 Ranger. I may test a current turbo 4 Silverado just to get idea of turbo lag comparison and smooth or jerky/lurchy acceleration?? Noted some Ranger turbo lag but not bad, Ranger went like stink across an intersection. Plenty of git in Chev and non-turbo I found much more LINEAR acceleration, not lurchy. I like Ranger dash instrument appearance much better. Chev instruments somehow look more basic or bland. That makes Chev a Chev. But for Colo. I see heat/AC controls are more conventional and easier to grab and do. Whatever stereo in XLT sounded fine, better than Chev? Ranger I drove was a cheery bright yellow/gold metal flake color, I surprised myself and quickly took to it. Such as that I greatly prefer when November or March heavy gray clouds roll in for a week+ at a time, blaaaah, love a bright colored vehicle to help lift the mood. That bright color also felt safer at intersections, like I WOULD be seen, rather like a school bus. Looks great with black trim. That Ranger color alone tempts me, which really surprises me. Blue and red are my history favs. I get idea the Chev dealer was going to sell a sim mid level package for several thousand $ less. I would order and wait, in order to NOT get the popular four door with too short of box. Seems like 95% four doors in stock. I demand all the safety braking and adaptive cruise and cameras I can get. Retiree !! Look out !! Maybe I’d use a turn signal. I’m used to Subaru’s fantastic “Eyesight” from 2016 that these trucks have been slow to catch up to. If I ordered today, I guess Colorado in bright cheery electric blue. 2023, new changes, I’m nervous for bugs to work out both brands. I may wait for 2024 and reevaluate. I suspect Colorado would be pick again, likely smoother ride ? And that turbo with massive 420 ft. lbs. torque. But turbos after warranty make me nervous, along with more than 6 speeds in an automatic. I’m pretty torn. Grab the Colorado now??, but it’s quite dated goods already. Trucks are SO popular and Subaru used to make a handy little reliable efficient go in deep snow and light off road truck-lette decades ago, I don’t understand why they aren’t cashing in on this trend with a modern truck bed modification of an Outback, 30 mpg’s. That’s really what I would prefer for in town old gent.

I choose Ford ranger for price towing and payload all of those marks hit the hardest

I really enjoy my 2015 Colorado with a V6. But I had to replace the entire steering due to complete failure in 2019. Power steering was lost on freeway, quite scary! It cost almost $2k and I was out of a vehicle for 1 week, Chevy would not stand behind it's product so it was totally out of pocket. I will not buy another Colorado for that reason.

I prefer my 2020 xlt ranger. . My Ford dealership was great to work with. Went to a Chevy dealership to test drive a Colorado and know body even came out to show me around even though I was on the lot for good 30 min. I was always going to get the Ford anyways bc I am a Ford guy but still wanted to do a comparison. My only complaint with the ranger is I wish it had 60/40 split and the seats created a level floor but that's due to the great 10 speed transmission. I love how comfortable the ranger is with all its seat; so much better than the Tacoma and gladiator. Viability is great in the ranger as well.

How would they handle 2 car seats

I drove both the Ranger made me sea sick road the worst of the two . The ranger a half of a arm rest notched out for the cup holders. Nothing for the passenger . And only offered a small four cylinder I bought a 2021 Chevy Colorado Z71 midnight addition and glade I did .

Rather have the Colorado, they have been more embraced by the aftermarket.

Definitely prefer the look of the Colorado and the tests I've seen say that the Colorado is the quicker truck when equipped with the 3.6. that being said they are both really nice perfect size trucks. I so happen to have a 21 Z71 Colorado and it rides very good for an off road truck, very tight with plenty of pep, but I would absolutely take a ranger if I wasn't so brand loyal.👍

Had a 2019 Colorado Z71. Leased traded in early for 2021 Ford Ranger xLT Sport in 4x4 just few days ago. Obviously options are available here is my comparison: Ford handles better, steering is quicker and just feels more nimble. It over the Chevy has the lane depart, pre collision, blind side mirror alerts, adaptive cruise, to me drives smoother. The 4 banger has less HP and more torque than Chevy. Fit and finish seems better. It has lots of impact sensors front and rear. Leg and head room seem tad less in Ford. Minor bitch but the rear sliding window is much smaller than Chevy was. I liked the Chevy 4x4 dial system and it had an auto AWD selector and the radio was better & much louder. The doors seemed way heavier and more sturdy on Chevy. Like I said Chevy fit and finish was horrible jagged interior plasticky parts, body had runny paint areas. Chevy transmission sounded clunky and felt as if was going to fall apart at times. After 13k miles the seats also began splitting on Chevy. When new I say Ford B+ Chevy B- both aren’t perfect and I am not brand loyal.

Looking at the Ranger FX2. Biden is just getting started on increasing gas prices. 26 HWY suits me fine.
