I have used EBC brake pads on my motorcycles for years and they are well known in the bike community. EBC is privately owned company with it's roots in the U.K. The initial concept behind EBC was to produce a quality line of braking components manufactured in the U.K. only so that a consistent product was being made. EBC Brakes produce the largest range of brake pads and brake discs in the world, with over 5000 part numbers for every type of moving vehicle. EBC Brakes are made in one of its two specialist factories in the UK and USA. (They are sold in China but none of their parts are made there.) The majority of EBC brake discs or brake rotors are also made in the UK. They also sell matched brake sets with discs that are balanced and weigh the same to ensure each wheel carries the same loading.

Leave the bleeder completely open them pump the brakes, the old fluid will float on top of the new, and during the process not pull air into the piston/cylinder. I had an old timer taught me this....it really works gre

Eric knows this but for everyone else, depress the brake pedal slightly with a bar or stick wedged against the driver's seat, this will prevent/minimize brake fluid dripping when replacing the brake line. Also, try to prevent brake fluid and grease from contacting the pads which can bake in and create glazing, hot spots, and shorten their lifespan. Same with the rotors. If they become contaminated make sure to clean them well, eh ehm . . .

I had no idea the green pads made from Unicorn Tears could be so aggressive ?, but I'm going to stick with the standard high end ceramic ... I also love the CRC silicone brake grease in the tube ... seems to hold up really well in PA (another rust belt state) ... I'm always torn between regular undercarriage washing (and/or with rust inhibitor ?) .... as regular washing seems to also (maybe) cause premature caliper piston seizing ? ... no a big deal as I replace them often with decent rebuilds ... as an old seasoned Rally driver once told me in my 20's ... "kid it ain't always how fast you can go, but how fast you can brake when things get dicey" ... I never forget that ... once again, Mrs. O steals the show and remains classy with a smile on her face ... you're a blessed man Eric (and she feeds you well too !)

Green Stuffs are great 'streetable' brakes. They bite enough to use them on the street without needing heat in them first, but they work really well when hot, vs the usual organic pads out there that fade away (faster) once they get toasty. Some guys make the mistake of buying Red Stuff pads and end up running into people and things. They _require_ heat to work. When they get hot, oh boy they work, though.

The only pads I ever came across that I would say are as good if not better were Ferrodo pads. But they were way more expensive. I get the sintered metal pads as well (so they have brass flakes in them. They chew up the rotors after a while, but as we used to say in Yorkshire, you can be doing a ton plus and still stop on a sixpence. I'm expecting a lot of comments bashing the Sonic in this video but I won't do it. A good friend of mine has one (actually his second) and yes, I tease him about his little "clown car". However, his first one served him well for nearly 200k miles before he traded it in on this one. He drives 120 miles round trip to work 5 or 6 days/week along with other running around and he loves that little car. He does have a 4x4 pickup for really nasty weather and when he needs to haul something, but usually the Sonic does just fine. If I was looking for something just to zip around town in, a Sonic would definitely get a look.

Kind of hard to mess up lego brake parts made from the last 10-15 years in small sedans. They use the same brake components across a wide variety of different makes and models, so finding parts isn't like how it once was in the early 2000s and the 1990s and older.

I've used EBC Green pads before, and yes, they are EXTREMELY aggressive and non-linear for the first day or two. That "drive with caution" sign is no joke. They're so grabby at the top of pedal travel for the first little bit, it gives a false sense of braking ability. They have some sort of magic sand stuff on the face of the pads to aid in proper bed-in; scores the absolute snot out of the rotors, but as it breaks down, it polishes out and gets a really consistent contact area. They seemed a bit pricey for what they were, and I didn't have much luck on pad wear. I tend to lean towards Akebonos now, for about the same price, but really, I feel like for most people, a good quality set of ceramic (or even semi-metallic) pads are more than sufficient, both in price and performance.
@coleregan7115
@coleregan7115 2 жыл бұрын
I installed them for a customer (he supplied them) once and thought I put the pad on wrong (backwards) with how much noise it was making. Finished the break in process and double checked, all was good. Customer complained that it was noisy and harsh braking... but read online that was normal for a few days. Smoothed out nicely and they ended up liking them. I didn't get the little mirror tag with the kit, though.

I would highly recommend EBC reds. They didn’t have an aggressive break in for me, are a little more bitey than stock, and I’ve boiled my brakes a couple times and the pads took it just fine.
