That's quite a project! Glad there are people like Jerad that know how to do stuff like that! @13:25 does Chris have the famous Colorado taillight burnout? I had to replace all 4 of mine on my 2020 within the first year and I see so many around with lights out. The lower-brightness on the dual filament burns out and the brake lights/indicator will illuminate, but they won't be on just for running lights.

I had a Jiminy in my Colorado. The latch to the rear seat back on the driver's side was the culprit. A small piece of cloth tape on the u shaped latch striker silenced it. Great video as always!

Andy (and Chris as well) did you get the seat squeak only when a person was sitting back there? That seems to be the only cause for my own little Jiminy.

It did only squeak with a backseat passenger. We couldn't figure it out for a while, but I'm ocd when it comes to vehicle noises so I kept looking 😂

About to put dana 4.10s in my colorado with 2.8 duramax to help with towing. 285/70/17. Might lose some mileage but then again mayne not if I drive normally. Averaging 28-30mpg currently. 32/33 if I keep it under 50mph.

I ordered a 2024 Colorado Bison that should be delivered in April. All Colorados come with 342 gears no matter what trim or tire size. Stock tires are 30” ish. The Bison has 35” ish. GM won’t change out the gears. My calculations say that it needs a 411 gear to accommodate the larger diameter. However, with a little experience and the added weight of the rubber, I’m thinking 456 may be a better choice for the 2.7 turbo max and the 8 speed transmission. I do plan on hauling about 6-7k occasionally. What’s your take on that??

I tend to agree that it should come with different gearing. An engineer from Chevy might’ve told me as much when we went to the press event.

@@okpop78 That right there is why we've done so much of it ourselves. Chris essentially now has an upfit Bison with every AEV accessory. We did all the work ourselves, minus this re-gear.

Parts are about $1500 (link below). Labor costs depend on where you live. I’d estimate $3k or so for the whole job.
@madcratebuilder

Depending on your trucks mileage you could get by with just R&P and likely one or two pinon bearings. That's what I did and it was $1400 back in late 17. 4.10's and 33's have been a great combination.

Did your hear any loud noisy @65 0r 70 MPH? according the colorado fan site, there some people complaint 4.56 upgrade.. I gonna regear my zr2 after you guys, don't know yet if 4.10 or 4.56
@JasonExplainsThings
@JasonExplainsThings Жыл бұрын
I passed this question on to Chris. From what he's said I don't think there is any gear noise. For the question of 4.10 vs 4.56... we deferred to Jerad's expertise. He recommends 4.10 for a diesel with 35's and 4.56 for a gas ZR2 with 35's.

This is the question on everyone's mind, and to answer the question, yes! You can hear the gears. But barely. If I'm freeway driving, I can hear the gears if I dont have the radio on and am completely quiet. This is going to be a personal preference thing, but for me it's so minimal, I completely tune it out unless I'm actively listening for it. Hope that answer helps. I was worried about the noise issues others brought up as well, but now that I have them in, it's a complete non-issue for me.

Surpring the 0-60 was the same. Truck need 5:13 or so gears if they made them. The main problem with the colorados is the complete lack of aftermarket parts when you compare it to a toyota. Not sure why the aftermaket does not support the colorado. Should also mention when installing the nitro gear make sure the pinion depth is near 46 thousands not the 95 that nitro recommends. If you go the 95 you will get a howl from the gears.

How is it on the highway 70/80 mph?
@JasonExplainsThings
@JasonExplainsThings Жыл бұрын
I'd let Chris give the definitive answer on that. From what he's told me he doesn't have issues going 70-75. That's as fast as the speed limits allow in Washington. He's said the new gears are slightly louder than stock at those speeds but barely noticeable.
