Great video! Love the screenshots and diagrams! Very helpful! In my opinion its much easier to just remove the air filter box versus going under the car!
@BillOfAllTrades20164 ай бұрын
Yes I agree. I tried under the car and it’s more work that way. This is much easier. Thanks for watching. Please like and subscribe

Love this channel but I highly recommend if you are beginner like myself to have a 2nd person to help hold it the belt in place and to jack up your vehicle or to use ramps. It helped me tremendously to be able to properly route the belt from underneath--not sure I could have got it otherwise.

The Ecotec are a cake walk but my 3.0 V6 on the other hand, what an absolute nightmare, I wouldn’t have been able to change the tensioner if I needed to because of the engine mounts, luckily a friend of mine helped me with the belt because it’s definitely not a one man job.

Sorry to hear that. Glad you got it fixed though. Thanks for sharing the info. Please like and subscribe for all other things equinox.

I found it easier to put alternator belt on first. Belt kept slipping offthe other pulleys.

Thanks for this video, was pretty easy to replace the belt once the air box was removed, could at least see more and move around a bit easier. But now I have a “wobble” sound, seems to be coming from one of the bottoms pulleys, I think the back one. I have a 2014 with about 101,000 miles, so I wanted to change the belt as part of maintenance. The new belt was pretty tight compared to the old one, would that be why I hear a wobble sound? Thanks for any input.
@BillOfAllTrades20164 ай бұрын
The wobble sound could be a pulley gone bad. I wouldn’t think that the new belt would be too tight. Did you inspect each pulley? Take the belt of and see if any of them have play in them. Then reinstall and run the engine and watch close to see if one pulley is wobbly. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching. Please like and subscribe

Thanks for the reply. I ended up taking the new belt off and tried to wiggle all the pulleys, there seemed to be no play/hardly any at all. I decided to put the old belt back on to see what happens, and the wobble noise is gone. I’m leaving the old belt on for now, didn’t look bad, but may decide to replace some pulleys/items regardless.

Ok. Good that the noise is gone.

So I’ve got a ‘16 Chevy Equinox I gotta change the serpentine belt on. All the other videos showed ppl lifting the car up to do this. Is that mandatory, or was this done without car jacks?
@BillOfAllTrades20167 ай бұрын
No jacks were used for this service. Most people go from under the vehicle because it’s easier to see the tensioner where to put the wrench. But it can all be done above the vehicle no jacking. Thanks for watching. Please like and subscribe

Every how many miles would you suggest to replace the belt?
@BillOfAllTrades20169 ай бұрын
Belt manufacturers typically suggest 90,000 to 100,000 miles for replacement (145,000 to 160,000km). Even if you have lower mileage it is still recommended that you visually inspect the belt. Any glazing or cracking will indicate the belt needs replacing. Thanks for watching. Please like and subscribe

What is that yellow pcv hose?
@paulp4024 ай бұрын
And does it help?
@BillOfAllTrades20164 ай бұрын
That’s a hose going to my oil catch can. I mounted the catch can to the frame infront of the air box. That new line replaces the black tube. The can catches all the moisture coming out of the valve cover so the line won’t freeze up in winter.
@BillOfAllTrades20164 ай бұрын
It does help a lot yes because I live in a cold climate. I also noticed my throttle body also stays cleaner now.

Hey brother what is the yellow hose connected to your to the air intake? Does that help with the oil burning problem or the rough idle?
