I just did this on my 2012 Equinox and have to tell you this video was a great help. I was able to pull the old one and install the new one in about 30 minutes. Appreciate your clear directions.

Just found your video because I got a recall notice for our 2015 Equinox for this same issue. We haven't had this issue, but after seeing your video and some others, I'll definitely be looking into the fix/replacement.

You are my KZfaq University Hero! I don't think I would have even tried this if I didn't see your video. My "timing" on blades was a bit off but eventually I got it. Keep posting--for I, too have a POS Equinox... Thank you so much...!

This helped so much. We have a 2015. I took your advice and bought the whole assembly.

thank you for the video. I used the 7/8th socket with a 5/8th socket, along with a c clamp used for calipers. no grease needed, so far its held together!

There is a recall on the 2013 Chevy Equinox for this windshield wiper issue. They haven't yet expanding it to other model years. But I had the same issue with my 2015. I've replaced the wiper transmission 2, with the Dorman model, and its always that same bushing. Always fails in the rain too. As if when the motor is turning that final small arm gets in a bad position and has some resistance, then it all breaks. Thanks for the video.

I just drilled a hole straight through the bushing from top to bottom, Popped a cotter pin through, And was good to go. Don't know how long it will last, but traded it in a year after the repair and was still holding.

Still holding?
@Shawn_3133 жыл бұрын
@@laceyurdiales6888 it lasted a year and I traded it in, At that point it was still holding. I did the same fix on a friend's Pontiac G6 also, And that's been holding the past 6-7 months or so now.

My last bushing replacement lasted six months.....saw a video where someone suggested thermoplastic. Another suggested zip ties to keep it in place. Almost opted for the entire transmission but haven't got there yet.......

Dag bro, I just finished watching another one of your videos about this from about a year prior; sorry to see that you are in the same boat and definitely sorry to see that it stopped during your conclusion demonstration 🤦🏾♂️ I have the same problem so I was rooting for it to work this time. Welp, time for me to go out there and see what I can figure out about mine. Thanks for the walk-thru (again).

@@northcackalackylife6175 I might’ve 🤔… a few days ago I took it to an automotive shop down the street but they said they couldn’t find the part anywhere and told me to take it to the dealership. I’ll hit them up about the recall, thanks!

Hi there, I need to check the hose on my 2016 equinox as the fluid doesn't spray but yet the bottle empties and the motor runs. Was glad to watch your video but I need to know how to remove the four tabs at the beginning. I don't want to break them! Do you have to squeeze when you pull them up or just go for it? Please let me know if you get a chance, thanks!

Why buy new linkage if it has the same plastic pieces... I just read a guy said he drilled a hole through the nipple and used a cotter pin. I'm in the same boat as you but am considering the drilling method because the plastic will probably keep stripping.

Is it a different issue when one side (passenger) is still working fine & other (driver) is not? So far I've only gone as far as popping off the black plastic cap off the non-functional one to see if maybe bolt was still moving but the arm was just slipping (it was not moving)
@northcackalackylife61753 жыл бұрын
ML Manville I’m not sure on that. If the linkage is broken they both quit working. Might be stripped at the end of the wiper where it connects.
@bripro683 жыл бұрын
Way late but yes it’s still the linkage when one spindle moves but not the other.

I tried this and had the problem you mentioned of them going opposite directions how do I get them back to turning the same way
@northcackalackylife61754 жыл бұрын
Richard Ehrne It’s hard to explain, just have to play around with it. When you put it back together the arms on the transmission assembly must have moved. You can snap turn the motor by hand and watch the screws that the wipers attach to turn. If they are turning in opposite directions it’s wrong.

I just ordered a new one Fam 😩 from all the compliments I've seen replacing bushings isn't worth it cuz they break so easily. I have 2012 Terrain I've been waiting for these things to break since I've seen the recall but not on mine only 2013- 2015 are recalled! Of course they broke on the worst day possible biblical rain at least they 🛑 while I was pulling into work. Easy enough to fix diy but poor design by GM. Rubbish ass Suv!!!

Dorman doesnt make them at all for this vehicle!! You buy a new wiper transmission without the motor. Or go to the junkyard, but you dont know how long it will last. The part number he is using is for a damn Nissan or something!!!
@northcackalackylife61753 жыл бұрын
I’m pretty sure you’re wrong on that but I don’t have time to verify. It was an exact match to the one I took off. I’ll take your word for it but I don’t think a different bushing would do any good it’s just a sorry piece of crap from the start
@johnm10553 жыл бұрын
Well being a FULL-TIME mechanic YOU are wrong! You provided the wrong part number to everyone here!! The DORMAN CATALOG i have here beside me says its for NISSAN VEHICLES!! www.dormanproducts.com/p-7639-49449.aspx?origin=keyword. This is from online. And this IS WHY your bushings popped off 10 TIMES!!!! Im not trying to be an ass. I want you to learn from YOUR mistake!! Ive made plenty myself. Just because something "looks" IDENTICAL doesnt mean it will fit.
@johnm10553 жыл бұрын
Ive been using these dorman bushings FOR SEVERAL YEARS and they have never popped back off and NEVER came back to my shop!!! You must use them for THE CORRECT VEHICLE!!
