My efforts on the Chevy S10 Hot Wheels project truck continue. This time I tackle a trio of unsightly issues hiding under the dash rug.

"and it's only about 4,230 degrees Fahrenheit inside this truck..." 🤣😂🤣😂🤣

I have a 2000 S10 and had the same trouble with the heater vent. Wasn't easy by any means. I feel the heat helps warp the dash which in turn makes the replacement vent harder to fit.

Yes, definitely took some effort to get the new one in place.

I'm a fan of these little trucks myself. I got a black 2000 regular cab I'm fixing up myself.

I bet these little trucks look really good in black.
@everettdillie66243 жыл бұрын
@@dumbluckdays they do specially when you keep it that clean factory look. I've never understand why people try to change the looks of these trucks. I'm a fan of the factory look.

I hope you left the dash cover on. I live in Florida and without my cover the dash would be toasted. Luckily so far no issues with the dash. I also use a sunshade every day.
@dumbluckdays2 жыл бұрын
Definitely am still using the dash cover. This southern Sun can be brutal on dashes.

I had no idea that was a headlight sensor on the right speaker. I learned something new.
@dumbluckdays3 жыл бұрын
I think lots of GM vehicles from the 90's and early 2000's use a similar sensor for the daylight driving lights feature.

The whole time I had my S10 I didn’t notice it. I guess mine was bad cause my headlights automatically came on unless I pressed the dome button like 80 times and switched it to manual mode
@dumbluckdays3 жыл бұрын
@@meatheadmasks4410 Yes, the problem for me wasn't the headlights being on per se, but rather the dash and radio illumination being very dim at dusk and dawn because the headlights were on. I wore out the dome button as well.
@danielstrickland47302 жыл бұрын
You can override the DRL' s by pushing the doom override button under the headlight switch 4 consecutive times after stating the truck. Same to turn them back on or they will automatically reset when you shut the ignition off.

Looking good Dude. I think you did a good job and I think it will all be ok.

Keep up the great work on the S10. It looks awesome. I hope the broken pieces didn't cause any trouble for ya.
@dumbluckdays2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the kind comments. No problems from the broken pieces--no rattles, vent working fine. My guess is that either no pieces actually fell in (doubtful), or the ones that did, are just sitting down there inertly.

Looking good Shawn. I think you worked up a sweat.

Wow. I thought maybe lights stayed on because the on off switch was bad. Good to know its just the sensor!

Hello there here could you tell me where did you get that dash mat ? It’s looks like it fit perfect on a 2000 Chevy s10
@dumbluckdays3 жыл бұрын
Sorry, I couldn't say. The dash mat was already there when I bought the truck used. I would try searching Google with the term "Chevy S10 dash mat". There are many results that might work for you.

Nice!! Where did you get the vent and speaker covers?
@dumbluckdays3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Jay! I bought them from RockAuto.com.

Any idea where I can get the Dash bezel?
@dumbluckdays Жыл бұрын
Sorry, I don't know where you could get a new one. You might check with local auto salvage yards for a used one. You could always repaint with plastic compatible spray paint.

If I hadn't lost the velcro tape for the dash cover, my sunlight sensor would actually work correctly. UV light kills the dash pieces!
@wmsbrum3 жыл бұрын
I have a 2000 same color and cab as yours!

Same here, after replacing the sensor, I notice that the position of the dash cover can affect the sensor's function.

Did the sensor work
@dumbluckdays2 жыл бұрын
Yes, replacing the sensor definitely fixed the daylight driving lights/headlights issue. I do also notice that the dash mat can cause the headlights to turn on during the day if it covers or rests directly adjacent to the sensor (basically if it shades the sensor).
