Man, what a time this was. Every red blooded American boy must have been wide eyed in front of the set and wanted to be Bronco or the Big Man Cheyene! It will never be like this again when great shows like this rolled on the tube one after another with the great memorable themes and the big handsome cowboys! I ate it all up and greatly enjoyed it. A BIG part of my memory, and a big part of my LIFE!!

I loved watching Cheyenne Brody when I was young. Our TV stopped working around 1960 when we moved to the farm and my Dad did not have it repaired for five years. My oldest brother said, after my Dad had passed away many years later, that he had just taken the tubes out of it so we would all play outside and live an unspoiled childhood. I watched it later in syndication after we returned from the wilderness and moved back to the city.

In the 1961-'62 season (when this originally aired), 'Sheri', there were 16 westerns on all three networks...

The Ken Darby singers provided the vocals for this theme. Mr. Darby was well known as a soloist, composer, and vocal coach.

At the time this episode aired [October 23, 1961], the series had become "THE CHEYENNE SHOW", an umbrella title for the two series that alternated on Monday nights [7:30pm(et)] on ABC- Clint Walker's "CHEYENNE", and Ty Hardin's "BRONCO". Notice how the "CHEYENNE" and "BRONCO" themes during the closing credits are "blended" into one...

the best version is the one used for season two. it has the background vocals, echoing the main vocals. very atmospheric, reminiscent of the jordanaires on "lonesome town" by ricky nelson.

That's for those who've never seen this series before, 'sclogse'. By the way, William {"Wm"} T. Orr was Jack Warner's son-in-law, and was in charge of the studio's TV operations from 1955 through '66...

@Sheri451 By now, you must have heard the 1958 song "Western Movies" by The Olympics. The song basically is a joke about how it seemed most of the TV shows that were on back then were Westerns, and the song's protagonist can't get his girlfriend's attention for a little lovin' when she's watching her Westerns.

We need westerns like this on television. I'm getting tired of cop shows.

What a great theme song - right up there with the original slower version of the "Gunsmoke" theme. RIP Clint Walker - most of the cast of "The Dirty Dozen" are gone now. I think Ernest Borgnine, Donald Sutherland and Jim Brown are all that's left. Richard Jaeckel, Lee Marvin, John Cassavetes, Telly Savalas, George Kennedy, Trini Lopez, Charles Bronson, Robert Ryan, Clint Walker . . . all gone.

never saw Cheyenne, but I used to watch 'the rifleman' i think on Tvland before it became the 24 hour Jeffersons channel. Who would win in a fight, chuck connors or clint walker?
@Phil0will16 жыл бұрын
A gunfight or a fistfight? In a fistfight, I would take Cheyenne. Clint Walker was huge. In a gunfight, I would probably take The Rifleman. Lucas really knew how to handle that rifle.
