At 32 months in Chiang Mai, I have to mention weekend trips to Pai, Mae Hong Son, Chiang Rai, Chiang Dao, Fang, Tak, Mae Seriang, Khun Kahm, Mae Sai, and the entire Mae Sa valley out to Samoeng are great. The south beaches are splendid, too, I like Krabi best.

I hope you find your tempo again soon mate. These last two updates really sound like your heart isn't in any of it any more but you don't know what else to do. I understand you have been on the road for a long time now and I can see even for myself, 245 days in, that each new flight I feel more are home and in time I can see that it will be absorbed onto a daily life experience rather than something crazy new. I guess you seem to feel pressure to do new things, but your content reviewing places like coffee shops and workspaces is invaluable. It made a huge impact on me working up the courage to book that first plane ticket to start my dn journey. There is mjs space in the city coworking that you could have covered. There is another one over on nimmen. I would have liked content on nimmen one as it was still being built when I was there last year. The videos of coffeeshops are great, it endorses the place and gives me confidence that I am welcome to work there. It might be grunt work to you now creatively but it is still welcome to your audience. The tone of your last two videos has struck me as a combination of you being a bit bored and looking for a spark and also a bit self conscious of doing what you did before like we demand new ideas. I think it's a classic problem, like for bands the first album they just go for it with nothing to prove and make it big and now they come back to write a second album and it's hard to recapture what you did first now you have a spotlight on the details? Before it was just see if it works, now its trying to figure out what worked. I guess what I am saying is I want to see more content and more of what you have done previously is most welcome, interspersed with what ever creative ideas you have as you have them.

Thanks so much for the detailed feedback Matthew. Much has happened in the last 6 months which has lead me to putting out less videos. In my life, I need to find a balance between actually freelancing to make money and making videos for this channel. I appreciate that you find the videos valuable but they simply do not reach a big enough audience to provide a good ROI on the time spent producing them. I work most productively when my mind is on the one thing and when it comes to making videos for CTF, the creative process often consumes my focus, taking away from the areas that make me the most money. I'm not complaining as I truly enjoy making videos and creating an impact but I'm still trying to figure out a good balance between work and KZfaq. Hope you understand :)

I've traced similar steps, both Chiang Mai and Bali. I like both ... one tip for Bali, beware of people on the street approaching you and offering drugs, they are most likely to setting you up for arrest by the cops, and then a very expensive extortion begins. Say no thanks and keep walking.

Great to hear your update re. Chiang Mai. I’m definitely keen to spend more time in CM as a tried, trusted, comfortable and affordable city. But I completely resonate with your feelings of wanting something new and exciting. I’ve also come to realize that quality of life heavily depends on the people that you surround yourself with. Going forward I’d also love to connect with more creative individuals working on unique projects. Heading to Berlin for Jun, Jul & Aug 2018. Will be good to see what that will be like. What are you looking forward to in Bali?

Chris and everyone here, I've just gotten the thumbs up from my boss to work remotely, and I'd like to ask if there are any Facebook groups you would recommend joining that pertain to working from a laptop in the U.S. Not quite ready to go to a place like Chiang Mai. Yet. I'm looking for some tips on things like long-term lodging, i.e., long-term Airbnb stays, (6-9 months), apartments, condo rentals, etc. Thanks in advance for any and all help, and thank you for providing awesome content.

Hey Chris, nobody in the nomad community talks about where to store your valuables or documents. Maybe you can do a video about that? Can you leave valuables in serviced rooms? Do they have safes? are there safe deposit box services in town? How about paper documents? what if you don't have a family back home and you need to carry or at least store your own docs?

Chris, I hope you are able to find what you are looking for. I am old and was lucky enough to be young just before the end of opportunity in America. Your generation faces less choices in employment and business start up possibilities. Looking back I had it very easy. I stopped going to Bali years ago due to the crowds, traffic and politically correct tourists that now overrun the Island. Just before I left I updated a popular video I made that you might enjoy. "Ubud Bali What is it really like? 2.0 updated". Good luck to you!

Spent time in Chiang Mai and surrounding area's, love Mai Hong Son and Chiang Saen . Giving info about places to eat and things to do is a plus for me and you do that, lots of people don't. I'm always planning years ahead and the snippets are put into evernote so don't think what you're saying goes to waste. Find out what the locals love doing, often I'd be standing on the footbridge at the start of the runway with locals, those planes came in so low, that would of been good in your video rather than standing in one spot watching the plane fly over. goo.gl/maps/oXWp5i3FYd12

Chris the Freelancer LOL! It was mostly a tongue in cheek request but I assure you that they are real and huge! I lived in CM 2012-13 and observed a lot. Every blogger seems to focus on the same things, but I think there are many items that done properly, could be quite entertaining. "Moat-rats at midnight" ; "sidewalk hazards (big holes) keep your eyes down!"; " low-hanging wires, Keep your eyes up!" Etc. Not trying to make CM look bad, just state the obvious. Hope this helps!

Chris the Freelancer Chris the Freelancer The Tagalanga rice field terrace is nice, Ubud and the water fall as well , these are the major attractions , but rest of the sites are not worthy at all. The swing in the forest was ok too. But the Talalanga rice field is a baby in term of scales and dramas by the way of comeparision with the LongSheng rice field in GuiLin, it is the biggest and very dramatic

Thailand is better than Bali imo. Bali sold out to Australians and is just one big booze up. U only c the balinese when they r serving u food or as a tour guide and the infrastructure is not as good. Rents r more expensive and cell phone is far more expensive and not near as good as thailand but booze is far cheaper in bali and there r alot of European foods available there. Bali people r not as welcoming but tha may b because their goverment sold it out and tge bali 1% take all profit and unlike Thailand, the balinese see little benefit.
