Will never forget this storm. Was windy all day and the first time I ever saw lightening in a snowstorm.

Wasn't there a snownado reported near Chicago?

The front end of this storm gave me 1-2 inches of snow/sleet, but then I got more than a half inch of ice, which closed school for me February 2, 2011.

I worked downtown that day, left the office at 5 as usual, and transferred Purple to Red Line and walked two blocks in Rogers Park as usual, and actually got home 5 minutes earlier than usual. Then like everyone else, my cat and I settled in to do the Hunker Down.

This was so much fun to watch. I live in the suburbs, but was going up to Chicago often around 2006-2014, friends with apartments. I was not up there for this, but somehow that just took me back to my younger life. I'm only 37 now so now I'm still living it... but that made me miss that time. I'll have to watch this again years from now.

I’m a truck driver. Meanwhile Chicago area, northwest Indiana, along with a portion of Michigan was getting the blizzard, south of Toledo was getting freezing rain. I had to go from Webberville, MI to Lima, OH. It took me over 6 hours to drive 180 some miles. No one was going no faster than 15mph. I-75 was nothing but ice. That was a nightmare by itself. The next morning I had to pick up the west side of the Chicago metro. I remember being on a 3 lane one way, and only having two lanes open. The snow that was in the closed lane was 5-6 foot high.

I remember being in middle school when this went down. Came out at 4 pm and had to wait outside in the blizzard for about an hour minutes for two buses. Traffic was moving at a snail's pace. Couldn't feel my fingers or toes when I came home and was scared I got frostbite. Thankfully they shut down school the next day. Still, I Wouldn't trade it for 100 degree summer weather in the south. Love this city.

My former employer sent all of us home from our office in Schaumburg at 12 noon. I stopped at the Dominick's store near my house, stocked up on people food & cat food & headed home. I remember looking out the window around 3:30 pm, and it was a snow globe outside. Two days before the snowstorm, I suggested to my clueless manager at the time that he might want to cut his trip to Houston short & return to Chicago as a 20 inch snowfall would probably close O'Hare. Of course, he didn't listen. Some people from the corporate office in Houston thought they were going to fly to Chicago the day after the snowstorm & meet with people from the Schaumburg office. I told one Houston employee there's not a chance in he__ that the Schaumburg office will be open the day after a 20 inch snowstorm. Schaumburg Road near my house wasn't even plowed at all until well after the snow stopped falling.

I remember that day waking up can't open up my door with the huge pile of snow blocking the door. We were snowed in. That was horrible!

I had to work that storm. My little one was wondering where I was. I didn’t come home that night. My plow truck got stuck and the boss got me and said we are all going home see you tomorrow.

The sound of the wind is like a tornado. What did you get a target? Bread, milk, and TP? What can be expected this winter coming up? Big snow storms are ruff to deal with after it is over but it is fun to go out and enjoy it.
