This was 5 years after Terry Kath's death and Chicago became more of a ballad band. Peter became more of a driving force after Terry was gone. Angela, it's very sweet how Peter touches your heart.

Seriously, all these reactors ignore the best part of this song. tragic and kind of pitiful they don't put in the work to decide which version to listen to ahead of time.

I don’t know how other reactors choose their videos, but as far as I know, Angela usually uses the ones submitted by the requestor, and I like that. The video version of this song was blocked, so it’s Patreon only. She chose a corresponding version to play on KZfaq to match her reaction. As far as the “Get Away” version added on the end, it’s just a matter of opinion. I personally don’t believe it matches this song, even the lyrics appear to have nothing to do with the rest of the song. It just seems oddly misplaced and out of sorts. I’m not saying it doesn’t sound good, in fact it’s a great piece, it just sounds like lyrics looking for its own song. That’s just my take.

The way your eyes lit up when he got to the first " it's hard for me to say I'm sorry" shows just how concerned you are with human relationships and how important you feel it is to be sorry when one should be in order to improve the relationship.

On the LP version, this track seques into "Get Away," which is an uptempo jam. This was a huge hit, and to me marked the true beginning of the band's reputation as a "ballad" band. There are many who don't prefer this version of Chicago, and you may well hear from some of them later. While I'm in that camp, this is one of their post-Terry Kath songs I do like.

According to their original drummer, Danny Seraphine, Get Away was actually a full-length song unto itself written by keyboardist Robert Lamm before HTSIS was written. They ended up keeping the segue part and the end and wrote HTSIS based on the seque part.

Written by Peter Cetera and David Foster. Produced by David Foster. Written for the movie 🎥 Summer Lovers starring Daryl Hannah. (Good idea 💡 to review that movie 🎥 in your other channel.) This song appears near the end of the movie 🎥. Before this. Terry Kath was dead 💀 RIP 🙏. The band was high on drugs 💉 and/or drunk 🥴. Nobody could write hit songs 🎵. Chicago discontinued using Lauder de Oliveira because his percussion would not fit the change in style to pop ballads and contemporary rock. Bill Champlin and David Foster worked with Earth 🌎, Wind and Fire 🔥. Chicago hired them and lead guitarist Chris Pinnick. For the recording, Steve Lukather of Toto played the solo instead of Pinnick. David Paich , Steve Porcaro, both from Toto, and Champlin played keyboards. Foster played keyboards and the synth bass. Cetera did not play bass guitar in the recording despite what you see in the video. You will not see both members of Toto in the video either. Lukather, the Porcaro brothers and David Paich played for many musicians in addition for Toto. No wonder these men were working like a dog! L 🤣 L Other musicians whose 1982 albums had members of Toto: late Michael Jackson, Michael McDonald, late Donna Summer.

CHICAGO'S RESURRECTION! The band had to sacrifice their trademark horn section on a few songs, and this was one of them. The band just signed with Warner Records, after departing their long relationship with Columbia. Part of that agreement, was they needed to return with hits, not just more 'numbers' on albums. David Foster was brought in to produce, and they pretty much scrapped all of the previously written songs; as the songs weren't good enough for radio play. They went onto write a whole new slew of songs, many of which were co-written with Foster. Chicago 16 also featured session musicians to punch up the sounds to be 'radio friendly'. Toto band members were brought in, including Steve Lukather on this track's guitar solo. The band's keyboardist Robert Lamn was going through personal issues, so most of the piano played on the album are by Foster; including this track. GREAT TRACK!

I know how much you like the Bee Gees, but there is a song that is like no other Bee Gees song, it's from their very last album, This is Where I came In, but the song I want you to listen to is called "Man in the Middle" it's the story about the fued that Barry and Robin had in the early 80's. Maurice was caught in the middle of the fight so that is why the song is called that. Like I said, this is like no other Bee Gees song you have ever heard, but it's a great song, by the way, it is sung by Mourice by himself, He does talk about loving somebody, but the song is about brotherly love, not love for a woman

Tend to think of Chicago in terms of two major periods. The 1970s Terry Kath era and the Peter Cetera 1980s era. The former though great lyrically was more instrumentally centric, whilst the latter including this track being of the more ballad oriented style.

Angela, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but all of the vocals were by Peter Cetera. They layered his voice, as many other singers have done. That's why the harmonies sounded so amazing.

David Foster wrote and produced this song. That is why you hear strings over horns. Foster wanted to make Cetera the official front man of the group rather than the 3 lead singers they had. Band said no so Foster talked Cetera into quitting and going solo.

As a longtime Chicaggo fan i will always enjoy the music they put out. My cousin got me into them in the early 70s so nothing will come close to their early music with Terry Kath (RIP). Ive seen them in concert a few times though never saw them with Terry. This was also featured in the ending credits of the movie Summer Lovers. To me this started the end of Peter Cetera with Chicago. IMHO PC wanted to go on his own and eventually did that. To me Chicago is a band but PC wanted to do his own thing and HTSIS was the beginning of that as it only featured him and drummer Danny Seraphine. Great reaction ❤

Well, it is a beautiful enough song, but it sounds nothing like 'Chicago' IMO. At this point Chicago the band was done and they just became session players for Peter Cetera. It is wild that this is the same guy that sang 25 or 6 to 4. I know they still play and tour, but the great run for the band's 'sound' creatively ended when Terry Kath passed away sadly.

Not the original horn dominated sound of Chicago, thanks to producer David Foster turning the band into a power ballad band instead of the jazz infused musicians they really were...Peter Cetera and his back up band, rather than Chicago Jazz rock. Great tune, but not the real Chicago. Sounds like all synthesizer work, The French Horn was hardly ever used in Chicago
