Economic opportunity. That allows people to better themselves. Handing them money changes nothing. A am black. I grew up dirt poor. My mother could not afford to buy me shoes when I started the first grade. The school sent me home until I returned wearing shoes. I made it through the 12th grade. My mother, bless her heart. Went to the Army recruiters office and got me the pamphlets and form to fill out to join. She gave me that for graduation from the 12th grade. She knew that without that I was headed to the streets, I was already selling pot and heroin. What made me sign up is I got shot selling to someone that another 'hood rat called his customer. I was shot through the hand so it was not a serious wound. No lasting damage. Why were we selling drugs? There was no other way to make a living. 32 years in the army, I took time off to get a Bachelor's degree, have a family, and then got dismissed because I refused the COVID vaccine. I was deployed 4 times. Create economic opportunity, it will end poverty. It will end crime. Those that remain poor and commit crime is because they want to.

The news conference was a blame game. Poverty, that's why violence is occurring. Disinvestment, that's the real reason war zone casualties are occurring. Brandon now wants to have his own Great Society to "Lift" people out of poverty. But the real embarrassment was when the reporter asked the mayor why he was out of town knowing this was a notoriously violent weekend followed by asking the Police Chief if anyone has been arrested...."Well we don't want to share too many details about our investigations." I suspect the answer is no, they haven't arrested anyone.

Because Chicago has an “open primary” that takes the two highest vote recipients and puts them in a runoff if one doesn’t get 50% or more. Chicago is so overwhelmingly democrat that it will always be a democrat receiving the most votes. Even though Valas (a relatively moderate democrat) got the most votes in the open primary, the whacked out far left democrats all voted for Brandon Johnson in the runoff to beat Valas.
