Actually in the Netherlands and Belgium it is called: Frietkot and plural is Frietkotten! Frietkoten is not right Double tt!! These fries are looking delicious though.!!! Excellent!!

saskiapanter That’s true Friettent is more like a word used in the Netherlands also another very common standard word in NL is Frituur. Frietkotten is more like a Belgian dialect... again Frietkoten does not exist! Wrong pronouncing/spelling ...

Het meervoud van 'frietkot' is echt wel 'frietkoten'. Check de Vandaele. 'Frietkotten' klinkt ook fout, het meervoud van 'kot' is toch ook ni 'kotten'?

Belgian fries are not cooked in oil but in beef grease (called "blanc de boeuf" in french), what makes them taste completely different. Born, grown up and living in Belgium, so I should know. Nice try, guys, but you're completely beside the point. No wonder if the recipe came from Amsterdam, which is... in the Netherlands!

I was in Antwerp and they used Peanut Oil to achieve their unreal taste, NOT beef grease. Guess it's different in some places. I know in France it's all about Peanut Oil as well. Now at home I use Peanut Oil exclusively to fry everything and oh what a difference it makes.

@@delirious2974 I just came here and must say that I find him rather obnoxious, also none of these videos have ever done the Belgian fries justice, that is not a joke, these have been marginalised as just basic fastfood fodder but to us they are in essence an artform, but anyway, We like that people like fries and put their own spin on them , and this proprietor takes it serious and people clearly like it, but there are some incredibly weird things going on here with the soaking and the apple peeler for skinning the potatoes

The Belgian fries are the best for ONE reason. They use exclusively Peanut Oil (like 5 Guys) which is essential for a great fry.
