Nice job cutting away for a 5 minute commercial with 2 miles left and a tight race between 3 runners. I really didn't want to see the details of how the race played out anyway.

Every other nation covering any sport: says sponsor name and the event while covering the people, their motivations and action of the actual sport USSA covering ANY sport, including NBA for you people thinking I'm referring to only running: Sponsor, coverage, commercial breaks, sponsor, coverage, commercial (if outdoor event then add 10% to 20% on weather/ "backstory" of how the event is so "good" for the city)

2:14:13 It bugs me that a runner who has just achieved a spectacular time in a marathon is bullied off to the side of the course by a bouncer tasked with keeping the ordinary folks out of the picture. I agree that it's a good idea to disallow the women's champion from having her thunder stolen by an unknown guy who may elect to sprint against her to the finish line. In Boston and NYC, this is avoided by giving the elite women a head start, which is altogether a classier system than finish line bouncers. Perhaps having a single men's and women's start is a more purely athletic method, but if purity is the goal, then athletes should be allowed to do as they wish at the finish line.

Exactly---there' SO many weather reports on & on -I may DNF this video----- the tiny cameo shots of the race w constantly being interrupted---- scattered all over the place& with all the inconsequential stuff boring everyone interested in watching the race ---its VERY frustrating.All the other major marathons show the actual race which is why it's been looked up here to begin with They should have 2 videos---1---the race & 2) ALL the 90 minutes of marginally related topics ........whew....!

This is the worst coverage of the marathon... what happened when the men were still running in a group and the 3 leaders took off on their own????..... THEN what happened when Kipchoge took off on his own to win the race??? really?????.. what a waste of time if you are looking for the competitive moments of the race... Obviously the race was great but the coverage sucks and the commentators are not at a 100%.

+KieroTakoBell I don't want to defend them but they do have to have commercials and they don't know for sure when moves will happen. Something very similar happened in NY last year. It covered the women for such a long time that by the time they flipped back to the men it was two guys near the finish.

How ridiculous that they went to a commercial with just two miles to go AND it was a VERY, VERY close race. How stupid was that? So after that commercial at self-promotion (never a mention of how Bank of America is funding (partially) the pipeline that may go through North Dakota AND how their private mercenary firms brought in attack dogs and other weapons against PEACEFUL protesters. Sure, he's a nice guy, but I wanted to see a MARATHON finish and I'm thoroughly disappointed as are other viewers, apparently.

Such a horrible job at broadcasting a marathon major!! I’m SO glad I didn’t watch this live. They treated this like a hometown 5k race. Nothing but 2nd tier news anchors; “reporting live”. And how many times are you going to report the damn weather forecast?? At least 5 times. Jesus. And the commentator constantly talking over Joan Benoit-Samuelson🤦‍♂️ This was truly amateur-hour. We missed a great race by Kipchoge in his early days because they were too busy reporting about the bands on the street corners. Ugh.

Vitaly Sazanovich so is it possible that the pacer also compete? For instance, let's say a runner set a new record, would that count as that pacers record too?
@VitalySazanovich
@VitalySazanovich 8 жыл бұрын
+MrOodlesnNoodle 'JL' I don't know. I guess it depends. My answer about resting while running is based on my own experience. I trained professionally in my youth. I think pacers who could finish first wouldn't sign up to be pacers. So they know beforehand they are better off as pacers.
@CurtisPNW
@CurtisPNW 8 жыл бұрын
+MrOodlesnNoodle 'JL' No, the pacers aren't technically competitors, and therefore aren't eligible to place in the race. In these big city races, the pacers are paid to be a part of the race. Also, they almost never run the entire race, just a portion of the race.
