1:34:44 Galen Rupp runs past Des Linden (opposite direction). Linden got those wheels going with one lap to go. 1:34:52 Galen Rupp runs past Kara Goucher (also going opposite direction). Goucher was maybe 8-10 seconds behind Linden at this point, but you could tell she was struggling there. Galen Rupp lapped all but four women in this race (Cragg, Linden, Flanagan, and Goucher).

One thing is clear: qualifying standards need to reflect faster times raced in international competition. I get that some good runners want to add Olympic trials to the resume, but 160 runners? No way.

"Steve Starr" if those were the conditions, who organized the race? It seems that race organizers should know enough to have what runners are going to need. I hope they remembered the portable toilets.

Oo 73°. Must be so hot omg. Just kidding try running a half or full in Florida. My last half started at 530 in the morning and the temp was 79° with 96% humidity. Condition effect takes about 2-3 minutes off my time

Idk if you really have the right to criticize the guys unless you're up in the top group of them lol
@bijohn3335 жыл бұрын
Dovhood Official I'm criticizing the commentators for constantly pointing out how hot it is. If we did heat and humidity conversions like we do for altitude and indoor conversions, Florida dudes would be way higher ranked. Anyways, I am allowed to criticize them regardless if I'm one of them. You can call a bad play on a basketball or football team without being a coach or on the team yourself.

73 deg is pretty warm for running a marathon. It’s fine early in the race but it will get to you later on. Perfect temp for a marathon is actually in the 50s.

"bitrador" I don't know if that is controllable but even if it is, the goal of competitive runners is to win a race competition. If their heart rate is not exactly near a "healthy rate" while running is often if not always not a consideration in the process.
