Any commercial size vehicle is entering into a whole new category of detailing and level of experience not many detailers have enough of doing other types of vehicles. Having to use a ladder like Jason was doing in this video would be a challenge for buffing and polishing.

Those blocks are called polishing rouge (probably not spelled right). The orange and yellow wheels are cutting wheels. I used to cut and polish at my old job. You get a much better result when you run a higher rpm tool. We used a dewalt grinder running at 9,000 rpms. You'll know when you're running a a good tool when you hit a wheel hole or lug nut and you dislocate your shoulder lol. On tanks, fuel and air, always move at a side to side motion, never up and down. It's very tedious and time consuming work, but the outcome is spectacular. We used to make our own polish with green rouge hammered into a powder, mineral spirits, and lighter fluid. Goes on green, then rub until it turns black. There's a product that looks similar but I've never tried it, called Zephyr. I could tell you were using a low power tool because your entire face wasn't black lol, I don't miss those days at all, very hard work. Love your videos man, keep it up.

Turned out Great Jason. Part of my job at Schock's Towing is maintaining the trucks cleanliness. And the mass amounts of metal on these trucks have been quite the chore lately. I used to enjoy doing the metal polishing, but I think it's the products I am using that is making me not look forward to it anymore. Not necessarily slacking, but moreso the products I'm using. Just doesn't get the correct shine I'm looking for. I'm going to have to try out this Red Rebel Aluminum and Forged kits. Also definitely need to get a Dewalt polisher as well.

So how DID you end up polishing the end of the fuel tank that was in an awkward position? Did it come out like the rest?
@94muddertrucker
@94muddertrucker 2 жыл бұрын
I'm sure this has been said but, the reason for the aluminum not being cleared up is the direction you were going. But practice makes perfect 😉. Sometimes the aluminum needs sanded and that will give an extra pop. It's night and day because you are removing all oxidation and defects.

What do you do for PVD fake chrome? I searched your videos and nothing returned for PVD. I bought my 2015 Ford F-150 last year that had several black spots on the "chrome" rims that I thought was plasti-dip that someone had coated them with and hadn't gotten completely off. A month after I got it and had time for a proper detail, I found out it was chips in this PVD coating, this was after I had started to use a chrome polish on them. After finding out online they weren't chrome, I've used the normal paint scratch removal with 101 and 102 and other things without very good results. And no idea what to do to hide the chips. My searches show I could send in the rims and have them re-PVD'd, but I don't have the money for that or for other rims to put on the truck or have it sitting for that time with no wheels. Maybe you could do a video on how to handle this "chrome", as it is supposed to be 80% lighter than real chrome and promoted by manufacturers as better than chrome and probably used a lot more in the future. It would be great to see the proper way to clean, polish, protect and handle blemishes on them. Thanks, Randy Ragon, Porter IN.

Like u said bro, alot of work. But maybe this tip may help just a bit. You can use the front of the wheel, (to an extent) Not just The edge. I fully get why one would use it as you are. & of course you can't use it flat. But, you can use a bit of the front which will save you a little bit of work on the shoulders and ceps.. plus, will allow you to get a bit more "bite ". By applying pressure and flexing the wheel
