John clearly owned this whole song. He's throwing out intricate and melodic unrelenting walking bass for 15 minutes like he's humming a tune.

No joke - I like their fashion: Chick Corea looks like janitor, Patitucci and Henderson like on Caribbean holiday and the drummer like a math teacher from 80's. They do not care about "theater" or "acting like stars". And the result? One of the best gig I have seen on video. True professionals. Greetings from Slovakia.

John did a solid walking bass while being able to add his own harmonic and melodic mix to it and to be able to solo and return to the walking bass doing the same thing he did when the song started without any fatigue is a level of mastery no human will ever be able to know

in my opinion, scotts solo might've been one of the greatest fusion solos of all time. he absolutely owned every chord that was given to him, and those chord changes weren't easy. He just rolled through them like they were nothing.

This contains SO MUCH CHOPS...trees are scared! Seriously..the CCEB were,are and always will be one of the greatest fusion bands in history...UNBELIEVABLE music.

ALL OF THEM! That's the Elektric Band thang, everyone is fucking insanely good, band is always tight, especially whenever they played live. And yes, Patitucci on his own is still a monster player. Scott Henderson, he's the best guitarist most people have never heard of. it is 2022, and Scott has been your guitar teacher's teacher favourite guitarist for DECADES. And yes, he KILLS IT playing jazz, playing blues, pretty sure if a classic rock band hires him, he'll do justice and and even take the band further into the realm of performance awesomeness. Mo'fucka came from the same planet as Hendrix, Jeff Beck, Gambale, Guthrie Govan, Steve Vai, Pat Metheny... Maybe just a different country from the same exoplanet in a different galaxy.

Chick plays that synth with phenomenal dexterity, it is unreal. Sometimes it looks like the instrument is alive in conversation and making those extraordinary atmospheric sounds all by itself, truly remarkable.

Henderson bought a very different musical flavor to the band! He was #BRILLIANT!

One of the finest & one of THE best live sounds. Have seen him many times with many great Musicians. Also - finally got to see Chick Corea not long before his passing in Seattle with the symphony.

Chick's rhythm sensibility and 'twilight zone' phrasing is scarily breathtaking. What an amazing piece; and I truly love Henderson for his Jagged-edged melodic approach: ALL THE WRONG NOTES PLAYED RIGHT! My favourite ever jazz-fusion band!

I close My eyes and listen to this music and it feels like if I was playing And very hard level of Super Nintendo s game CONTRA and super Contra.

The tone of the Ken Smith/Jackson 6 string bass that Patittucci played during this iteration of the CCEB was simply awesome. No two Ken Smiths ever sound exactly alike. Of course, the player himself had a lot to do with the creation that sound also...LOL!

I love that so many of us are still listening to this incredible music in 2020.. This is one of my favorite CCEB performances of all time.. with Scott Henderson.. I love Frank G. as well.. Patitucci is just devastating.. and a joy to watch and listen to here.. but this lineup just kills!! Maybe its the tension between Scott and Chick?

You can be sitting mere feet in front of him while he cooks on something like this, yet it can be a whisper. No need whatsoever to beat them skins. I have played with only a couple of drummers that were able to do that

WOW, they where so young! I have never seen such an early tape with the electric band before, even though I have always really idolized them. This must have been intresting years for those guys, they where just about to conquer the contemporary jazz scene for the next 10 years to come, and I guess they knew it.

Never gets old. Genius can be enjoyed forever.

Mozart would have been very inspired, that's for sure! By the way, I'm from Berne and was there in '86 - dang, what a concert!!! I remember, this was just after my master at the Swiss Jazz School and I was deeply impressed - kind of stoned by so much geniousity ! The day after, I bought me a 6 String Ken Smith Bass - just because of John... I still own this amazing Instrument ;-). Was fun to find this vid on youtube... My gosh, these guys where light years ahead at that time!

One of my favorite Elektric Band tunes ever. This tune got my time together really well, (just by listening). And it gave me my first real understanding of jazz improvisation.

Dave Weckl is on tour in may 2023 in my country. We'll miss Chick, but Eric Marienthal will be in the band. Looking forward to hear them so much. ❤

The great master, my hero is gone and I am heart broken. I had hoped Chick would've lived forever or at least survived me, but alas, this was not to be. Chick, you were absolutely one-of-a-kind. A great pianist/keyboardist, easily grouped with the greatest composers that ever walked the planet. Farewell and Rest in Peace maestro. I can only pray that I may be worthy of meeting you and listening to you play again on the other side...

I have all the love in the world for the classic Elektric Band lineup but this early incarnation featuring Corea, Weckl, Patitucci and Henderson absolutely rocks. Everyone is on top musical form delivering a legendary masterclass of unbelievable musicanship. What a treat to hear one of the the band's most legendary pieces get a full workout and holy smokes, Patitucci is killing it on the bass as are all of the guys.
