I just bought this coop. They do tell you in the description that it is only painted with a base coat so it is important to give it a good coat of exterior paint. I like this little Coop but I also find that it's a bit too small I bought the smaller one which is supposed to be for six birds but I do not feel it's large enough for even my five birds. Yes the poop tray is very very shallow it's too shallow to use deep bedding method unfortunately. But mostly I like it. I also did some adjustments on the roosting bars. I have the orpington hen house and it has three roosting bars but two of them are much too low so I relocated them. Love the curtains that's a great idea... Who doesn't love a bit of extra privacy! And wow that run is gorgeous I would love to have something like that. Great work 👍

That run is awesome, great job . I have the mid size coop and I agree with your cons although the recommended in the instructions to paint it once a year for extra protection.

we do not put the roosting bars inside the coop. we only use the coop for the hens to lay. the roosting bars are set in the run. makes for a cleaner coop.

Very nice run. I just ordered the Rhode Island XL with two runs that I plan on putting together so my run is a good size. I am only getting 3-4 girls. My run will be 6 1/ feet X 8 ft. This helps me to see realistically what it looks like and I already have some ideas. My question to you is, the website say to paint your coup after receiving because the pre-finish that comes on it will not hold up to weather. I plan on using the paint we used on our house so it matches. Did you paint this coup after you got it or was this the original finish? I just want to keep mine in good shape.

Trust me do not buy this. I have the Orpington (just bought it) and it's like the old balsa wood airplanes I use to make and fly around with the rubber band. The wood is very thin, splits into when you drive the screws in and when you get it built, do not even think about moving it. Build it in place, if you move it, even a foot or two with the run cage it warps big time and you need to shore up places where warped. Also come with damaged from side of coop bottom wood where door is was busted, had to get wood to replace. I hope it last me a year. I have secured most of this coop with other wood, so buy at your own risk.

It’s plenty big for that many chickens, by all recommendations. You simply want extra room for some reason.

which style coop is this? I am looking at the Rhode Island Red style with 10 ft run. I have 6 hens and question whether or not the interior is adequate. I'm in Central FL and we get plenty of rain, days when they'll be stuck inside.....Thanks for the very informative video. I

I put a tarp over mine to save it from the weather and last longer.

What size screws and bolts does it take? I bought my coop from a girl who her daddy bought this coop. He died suddenly so no way to ask "where's the screws and bolts"?
