I was on a private survival server a while ago where we legit had chicken wars. One side was for protecting chickens and breeding them and such things (named the 'Chicken rebels'), while the other was for killing the chickens and eating them (PETA: People Eating Tasty Animals. Not my idea, so I can't claim credit). At one point the server did start taking a pretty big hit from the chickens so there were numerous chicken dinners. There were secret bases and even secret chicken sanctuaries and hidden chicken cooking areas. It was a whole thing.

5:41 The real reason it nearly broke the game is because Zombies will pick up random items off the ground which can include both actual weapons and random items like eggs *but* when a Zombie picks up an item then it's set to never despawn (in case you die and the zombie nabs your equipment). This can result in more and more caves becoming flooded with egg wielding Zombies.

On anarchy servers there are lag machines with chickens. A glitch with lichen allows you to break entity cramming limits and if you just cycle the eggs to dispense in the same chamber they were laid in VOILA! Infinite chickens lagging the server.

Cave chickens are pure evil. Some years ago friends and I were running a server together. Whenever we had any accidents in caves there would _always_ be a random chicken nearby. Became a bit of a meme between us. Turns out that chickens, like any breedable animal in Minecraft, don't despawn naturally - even those spawned as Chicken Jockeys. But their zombies do, leaving just the chicken to wander the caves and curse anyone daring to come too close...

Ok, so I went take a quick look at the chicken page of the mobestiary and I am starting to believe you are 100% right. "Some explorers have noticed that wherever there are evil mobs, a chicken always seems to be quietly watching, leading them to suspect that the chicken is some sort of spy for the dark forces. Could this theory have anything to do with confusion over the chicken jockey, that rare phenomenon of the baby zombie, or zombie pignan, riding a chicken? Or perhaps there really is more than meets the eye to the chicken? I hope continued studies will soon answer this conundrum." Apparently this is a reference to people back in 2011 theorising about chickens being evil beings from the nether and since it's on the mobestiary I guess it's cannon now...?

Oh my gods the eggpocalypse! This nearly took down a friend's server cause I was online allll the time, and jockeys would spawn in the caves under my base. Every time I went underground to mine I'd hear the zombies getting louder and louder, for days on end, till my friend has to spectate down and look, and he saw THOUSANDS of zombies covering every available surface, all of them holding eggs!

I once found a chicken jockey in a cave that proceeded to walk to an area where the ceiling was one block high. The baby zombie suffocated and died, but the chicken was fine. I named that chicken Rodger, and he lives in my house now.
