Wow, you're a freaking surgery resident, a mom, go gym, and also make vids. I need to get it together. Love how you also stay positive through it all, even the little inconveniences like your uber driver getting a flat tire or forgetting to bring an umbrella, you do it all with a winning attitude.

Surgeons are usually around very competent teams. Moreover, attendings and fellows plus mid-levels (PA-C and ARNP's) are usually on hand for the floors and admits, (and sometimes OR) for the OR if the right circulator and and awesome scrub is on call, that immediately alleviates ALLOT OF OR stress like a Lap chole- Ports picked per preference, Cut down-vs Verris technique for initial, entrance, and of course being ready for open procedures. yes it can get crazy and serious but the training prepares you to be calm, and for the most part whom you work with are pretty much top-tier in skill and professionalism. What I learned allot from residents was to always STUDY and be up on the latest tech, and newest guidelines, techniques and Rx in medicine. Best to you good doctor Sanchez in what you want to specialize in and family as we say in the OR "strong work"

I came across your vids a few months back and seeing you move through the ups and downs with grace gives me courage to take the leap into gen surg. Why are you getting an MBA as a doctor and an aspiring surgeon? No shade, genuinely curious how they correlate together.
@MOAB-UT
@MOAB-UT 7 ай бұрын
@@brandonbellino8896 Many potential reasons for it. 1. Administrators make more money with less work and far less liability then a surgeon. 2. Surgeons can pay $250k a year just for malpractice insurance. IF they get sued (they will), forget about it- $500k a year easy. It is smart to have a back-up safety net. 2. An MBA is always helpful. Many doctors go into private practice. Knowning more about business, accounting, finance is very helpful. 3. Why not?
@kyadiary
@kyadiary 7 ай бұрын
@@brandonbellino8896I’m actually curious also? I want to be a lawyer but the med side interest me a lot
@brandonbellino8896
@brandonbellino8896 7 ай бұрын
@@kyadiary Well the dual JD/MD makes sense to me because a lot of medical schools actually have programs for that, they combine medical and law programs for people who want to be lawyers for hospitals and defending doctors in malpractice lawsuits and stuff like that. I’m just confused why someone who wants to be a surgeon and be in the OR wants or would need an MBA, not sure what they’d do with it as a surgeon.

I worked the 7p to 7a ER for years. You need blackout curtains in the room you sleep in. One of my docs even had a windowless room built in her house just for her to sleep when she had those crazy shift weeks. But since not many people can build a windowless room go for the blackout curtains - they are a lifesaver.

@@jenniferschaffer1625 Agreed. Medical mistakes happen often. Tools get left inside, etc. I had a surgery a few years back. I looked hard at my surgeon to make sure he was wide awake and not tired looking. He was fine. A single surgery I had a few years ago, I think about every single day. Surgeons banging out 10+ surgeries a day we are just a number on a 24/hr. calendar. NO. We are people. The quality of the job they do sticks with us for life. I still have the scares to prove it- and pain on occasion too.
