With the new generation of Japanese women musicians they really have been making themselves a force to be recognised in the rock and metal world for about ten years. There are so many really good all female and female fronted bands.

Nemophila: Making Brutality Beautiful since 2019. They are a supergroup composed of: Mary's Blood guitarist Saki ex-Lipstick vocalist Mayu ex-Disqualia guitarist Hazuki (also plays with Lisa-X) ex-Hölderlins bassist Haraguchi-san, and ex-Soramimi drummer Muratatam (also does other projects) Other than Saki, none of them had previously been with a breakout band, despite having amazing chops. Getting these five together did the trick-they are just exploding. Initially, they were just a side project, co-organized by Mayu and Saki. They started off posting metal covers of well-known rock, pop and metal songs. You have just scratched the recent surface of a decade and a half of excellent girl's J-Metal starting with Destrose and Aldious - Aldious are still around, Destrose spawned MANY bands, including Nemophila indirectly, and Mary's Blood and LOVEBITES directly. Destrose, Aldious and the previous generation's SHOW YA! inspired the likes of BAND-MAID and BABYMETAL too. It's a whole massive rabbit hole of absolutely excellent music. Good luck down there!

You reacted the same way I did the first time I saw them perform. The first video I saw them do was their cover of Detroit Rock City in full Kiss makeup. I was hooked from that moment on.

These ladies really are hardcore as hell. I'm enjoying listening to their songs for the first time. I do like metal songs that blend harsh and clean vocals and her voice is quite good. Her screaming reminds me of the guy from Cradle of Filth.

That is the most heavy sing they have. Their 1st single is called "Oiran", and another very good one is "Life" wich show how much versatile they can be.

And just to add to Hiawatha G. The two guitarists mentioned. Here they are in the former mentioned bands. For Saki i suggest Marys Blood - Crime and Punishment (Live) and for Hazuki. Look for Disqualia Over the destruction (2015) The two guitarists are Narumi (long red hair) and curly blond is Hazuki. Ibuki on vocals and Risa*Risa on drums. For Marys Blood we have Eye on vocals. Mari on drums, Saki and Yashiro on guitar and Rio on bass.

Check out the cover songs they recorded live in studio during lock-down (start with Detroit Rock City) and you will get a sense of how charming and down to earth these insanely talented musicians are.

I listen to this song at least a couple of times a day. There is nothing to not like about this band. Her voice is so incredible. It might make some people angry but that chorus is probably the best chorus I have heard in a long time. Just my opinion.

You should try Passcode "Taking You Out" (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/e-CAd8d-mrjNm6c.html) just to get a taste of the Alt-Idol scene too. Unfortunately, after hearing them, Nemophila & Hanabie in quick sucession you will probably (a) be depressed you're only now finding out how good and diverse the Japanese metal/rock/pop scene is; (b) cheer up as you realise how much new music you've found The Japanese music scene is very varied and vibrant, with even their pop music being highly technical the rock music benefits from this basis and what appears to be a general ingoring of genres - if a band wants to mix ska and metalcore, they're free to try, without, it appears anyway, a bunch of "elitists" turning their noses up. Hope you continue enjoying the journey.
