You all misunderstood the Jay-Z comments. He was talking about Beyoncé (rightfully so), but also talking about Black people as a whole being snubbed by the Grammys. That was the bigger picture you all missed that’s what the Grammy needs to get right. Black artists dominate the music industry the Grammy’s should reflect it.

I love James and obviously he has a right to his opinion but I often find his take on racial inequality disappointing. I don't know if it's because he grew up with a challenging sense of racial identity or because of how they perceive race in England but yea. I also wish Rem was more thorough when presenting his trash news. Like if he had a full sense of the stories he brings up. Sometimes he's looking up basic notes in real time. But it's just for entertainment. It's not journalism, but I think it would really improve the integrity of the show if he did.
@tosh4771

Yep. Beyonce and other black artists keep winning the R&B categories but never the main ones. A grammy voter said they don't vote for Beyonce in the big categories because she wins too much. That's dumb because she only wins the "black" awards. Mariah said years ago that they said the most popular album would win, but then when the R&B became the most popular, they changed to saying the most "artistic" albums should win.

I feel like the Grammy convo was missed cause when Macklemore won best Rap album over Jay and Kanye and Kendrick and think that was the reference. Not this year. And when Lemonade lost AOTY and Adele mention that on stage too. I think Jay was mentioning it as a whole- not complaining about “we have this so we deserve that” but “if you can recognize us for all of this how the hell can we not win AOTY?” just the blatant disparity between Black artist and everyone else and our standard here in the USA.

When Fuhad said he had PTSD everytime he heard his parents’ keys in the door, YEEEES! I have tried to explain this feeling to people so often throughout my adult years. I had so much anxiety with just sitting down to do nothing. I couldn’t relax and just watch tv or chill without intense feelings of guilt and feeling like I should be doing something or I’m going to get “caught” or something. And I realized it was from when I was a teenager and I would instantly jump in the air off the couch and busy myself with something every time I heard a car door outside. I had my first son as a teen and my parents really hammered it home, the message of, “you’re a mom now, mom’s don’t sit down, moms don’t rest, you have no you time, etc.” I understand what they were trying to do for me and I’m sure it was helpful in some ways, but it certainly did some damage simultaneously.

The Grammy convo is very relevant to the conversation of how the industry is being run ... it's bigger than the number they've been awarded. Respectfully, a lot of ppl missed the point in where Jay Z was going in his speech. He wasn't talking about himself. He was using his wife as an example. He was speaking about our culture and how the metrics (goal posts) are moved for US. He's also using show up as a double entendre, show up to the event, and show up in your art. He's speaking on behalf of the culture because of the position he sits in. I personally didn't hear the speech like everyone else heard it. #ForTheCulture

Yeah, not that I don't believe that Jay Z is coming from a massive position of privilege, but when he said 'some of you don't belong in the category' I thought that was more of a comment on how music by black artists is often shoehorned into 'rap album of the year' or 'r&b album of the year' when the music is actually more pop, country, or alternative. However because of the colour of your skin, the only category they're going to give you is rap

Fyi: the tyler comment was reffered to tyler the creator. When he received his grammy in hiphop/rnb, he didn‘t want it as he doesn‘t beleive to be that (just because he is black) and actually sees himself as pop. Which was the inception of the album with songs like SEE YOU AGAIN, etc. i don‘t think it was a shot, it was acknowledgment of his comment

Just an fyi. Beyoncé did not have any music submitted for this years Grammy awards. Her album came out in 2022, she got 9 noms and won 4. I think Jay Z’s statement was more in a general sense. In 2023 she toured the album. People are confused thinking she would get noms or awards in 2024 with no music submitted. I think for them it’s more the fact that she’s never gotten recognition for a “whole body of work”, since she puts a lot into creating cohesive albums, more so than random singles. I.e “album of the year” award is the one she really wants and feels truly reflects her body of work, whenever she drops a project. But at the same time, the woman has more Grammies than anyone on this planet. Think it’s very personal for her, since she’s the one putting together these very well thought through projects.

When I was in preschool my mom dropped me off and she thought that she could quietly leave. I turned around to show her something and I freaked out and I couldn't open the door to the outside, so I had to watch my mom drive away. I didn't know that she was coming back like in 4 hours. It gave me a slight abandonment complex. My former husband who was my boyfriend at the time brought it to my attention cause when we we're talking I'd follow him around. The final straw was that I followed him into the bathroom when he needed to 💩. He said, "I'll be right back! I'm not going anywhere else! You don't need to follow me in here !" We still laugh about it. I had no idea that I was doing that due to trauma. Bruno has already done the Super Bowl, and it was AMAZING!

This thing about Nigerian childhoods is no joke! We would scramble once the parents came home. It’s a shame that fear is the primary way Nigerian parents run the home.

I said this last video and hoping these men understand!! So many factors, not just weight, height, age, but also medical history, mental health, and even childhood trauma can affect physical strain. The body is so much more intricate than just working out. I know James says it’s not fair but the human body is so incredible that their body is doing what it needs to do for each of them and maybe Fuhad needs more strain, Ellis more recovery, etc. These men are putting in the work and that’s what matters most!!

Yes Beyonce is the most awarded Grammy winner but those wins are made up of rnb or whatever other category they decide to shove her album into that year (Not that it makes those wins less important but they usually try to relegate her to a box/genre instead of acknowledging her overall succes/influence. There was literally a line of celebs queuing to take a pic with her)She rarely if ever wins for any of the big ones. Album, records etc. She won 3 last year if I'm not mistaken, the most for any artist that night on one album but Rennaisance still lost to Harry Styles for some reason. It's not Taylor's fault but even her own fans are saying SZA should have won over her as Taylor's wasn't even one of her best. No black woman has won album of the year since Lauren Hill in 1999 and it's really weird. There was even an article last year where they anonymously interviewed Grammy voters and they said they barely listen to the albums and everyone is expected to just bow down to Beyoncé everytime she does something which shows a voting bias against her. Jay Z was right. It doesn't make sense and his commentary extends beyond Bey to how other artists are treated as well. Even when Adele won over Beyonce for Lemonade she said it wasn't right in her speech. Even self titled, there's a reason people release music on Friday now and why people have tried doing drops with no promo, she's your fave celebrity's fave celebrity.

@@ashlynjones1608 right and they barely watched the clip. There's a lot more to the conversation than "oh Beyonce is whining because she didn't get the Grammy she wanted" if they're doing this to Beyonce of all people what about other artists? By their own metrics it just doesn't make sense.
