"Children of the KKK": White Supremacist Patriot Front Marches Through Boston, Attacks Black Artist

2 жыл бұрынBoston officials claim they had no prior knowledge of a march through the city by about 100 members of the white supremacist group Patriot Front on Saturday. Local anti-fascist organizers contronted the marchers, who also attacked a local Black artist named Charles Murrell. We speak to Boston civil rights activist Reverend Kevin Peterson, who is an adviser to Murrell; investigative journalist Phillip Martin, who has documented the rise of the neo-Nazi movement in Massachusetts; and Michael Edison Hayden with the Southern Poverty Law Center. Peterson is calling for an internal investigation into the Boston police over its response to Saturday's violence. His group, the New Democracy Coalition, is also calling for Boston Mayor Michelle Wu to develop a race commission to explore what would constitute reparations for Black people.

These guys have been accused of being feds for months now. They seemed to appear out of nowhere, with no grassroots movement or support. Don’t allow faceless groups to sway your opinion of the greater public. There’s a lot of powerful people who benefit from us fighting amongst ourselves, rather than us joining together to try and stand up against corruption.

Anglosaxons said almost the exact same thing when Irish started arriving.... they wanted Boston and other parts of America to remain WHITE, Protestant, and Anglosaxon. Honestly there’s not a high population of black people in Boston. They were in downtown Boston which the black neighborhoods are nowhere near. Dorchester, Mattapan are all primarily black neighborhoods.

Boston has been backward since inception. I'm sad that Boston is like this. 40 years ago, my friend and I were in Boston, in August. It was very hot. We donned our shorts and tank tops and headed out on foot to experience this "great" city. We walked about 6 blocks and received so many catcalls and other harassing shouts, that we went back to the Y where we were staying, and changed our clothes. From that day on our slogan has been "the Free World Ends in Boston". In 40 years, nothing has changed
