I love it when the entire hot pepper ordeal is recorded and displayed. I've only done the ghost pepper challenge twice, which used to be the high water mark once upon a time... and there's something beautiful watching people go through an internal struggle that few people understand. It's similar to watching a kid grow up and experience difficulty for the first time but they learn it all at once and dramatically.

Kjellemann took it like the champ - but bailed like the captain of the costa concordia... (hope the water helped him) I came to the conclusion that all chiliheads have a sadistic adder, bc i feed hot chilis to my mother who "loves spicy food" (so the old dragon can spit fire again)... ;-)

People who have only tried regular supermarket chilis and find them hot, usually think that "hot" applies to Carolina Reaper as well. It doesn't. CR is something completely different. Birds can eat chili without problems. The idea is that the bird is supposed to spread the seeds. To prevent other animals from eating the fruit, the chili uses a scare tactics. Defenses and panic buttons are pressed in the body but knowing that they are not true, makes it possible to fully enjoy the experience of eating really hot chilis even if it looks like you are dying. It is truly amazing.
