Welcome back to the wonderful Uganda!
On this next part of my very special journey I will be hiking through the magical Kalinzu Central Forest Reserve to find wild chimpanzees!
On this trip I used my Fujifilm X-H2S, Fujifilm X-T3, Fujifilm 23mm f/1.4 LM WR and the Fujifilm 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6. My equipment held up fantastically, especially in the very dark lit forest where I had to crack met ISO to a disturbing level! Thankfully, Adobe Lightroom has just made an DeNoise update!
I hope you enjoy the adventure and the gorillas.

Fantastic video, I can't wait to visit Uganda. Did you prefer chimpanzee or gorilla trekking?

Aww so glad you are going! To be honest they were both amazing in their own way. Both treks very on the animals and their location - so you could be out for an hour or 15mins or 5 hours, it all depends. I really liked the gorillas as you are so close to them but the chimpanzees were great as I got to explore more of the forest 🙂

Beautiful Victoria. Love the sun ray photos, that is pure nature and so calming. Encounters with any animals that are not in zoos are awesome and you nailed it on that trip Victoria. I think Costa Rica has your name on it now. Well done. X

Thank you! Yes that was actually one of my favourite moments from the whole East-Africa trip, it just felt very magical and like you say, pure nature. I’ve always wanted to see sun rays through a forest. Thank you again and I have added Costa Rica to the list and been looking at photos - it does look beautiful ☺️

Such a wonderful chapter in your Wildlife story. Lucky girl indeed (well, apart from the part where you got "rained" on). 🙉 Lovely, atmospheric photos and the chimpanzees are so entertaining in a way with their quirks and behaviour. I love the composition of the photo at 6:50, it is splendid! ☺

Another amazing journey Victoria! I’m learning from your tips on the ISO. Just got back from 5 days in Yellowstone and did some dawn and evening low light with my XT5. I’m still using autofocus a bunch as a beginner. Your shots are soooooo crisp and clear! Do you use the auto focus, or manual, or a mix of the two? Working on getting my shots as clear as yours. The chimpanzees were fascinating. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you!! Yes sometimes if there is no other option then you have to crank up you ISO - unless you have a fancy prime telephoto (which I do not! Ha!). Autofocus is fine to use, it’s mainly the other settings like balancing ISO, aperture and Shutter speed in manual which is important. I switch between autofocus and manual depending on what I am shooting. Sometimes people think it is the focus which isn’t clear when actually sometimes it can be down to your shutter speed being too slow for the subject or your own movement if you are handheld 🙃

@@wildandfreevictoria Thanks for info. I’m still playing with the interactive relationship between ISO and shutter speed. I’ll keep trying!

I’ll be honest… sound is not my best thing 😆 but I use the Zoom H1n with the RØDE SmartLavPlus Lavalier, it seems to do the trick well enough anyway 😄
