In the gloom of Greece's economic woes, some brighter spots are beginning to emerge.
One of them is China's massive investment in the country's main port, near Athens.
China is bidding to take over the entire facility, making Greece a major trade gateway between Europe and China. But not everyone is happy about it.
Al Jazeera's John Psarapolous reports from the port of Piraeus.

Why don't you go there and see for yourself. You'd be surprised at how much we've been lied to.

What if they have been here for generations and all their cultural values are virtually replaced by American culture?

The Chinese providing REAL investment so that the Greeks can pay down the debts rung up by their politicians, bankers and the European Union. Investment is the only way to resolve a debt crisis without declaring bankruptcy, NOT MORE DEBT.

Greece needs the investment. They have to take what they can get.

Do as they do in countries like Indonesia, any foreign company operating in your country has to be 52% locally owned that is including local infrastructure that way you still have control of your own land etc.

erm fyi the ausie govt has the final say of who owns what. If anything the Chinese are taking a risk, since popular opinion could lead to confiscation of private property. Same is true for ausie companies that own property in china etc.

What do you mean REAL investment? After all the investments from America Greece is still so poor, its obvious they just used the money on olive oil.

I mean superiority in market, in values, in economy, in military, in policies and in our government. So sorry for summing it up as superior in every way. Oh wait, we are.

I agree with you on that one. I've been to China a few times and I've met many Chinese people while studying in New Zealand and generally the Chinese love America and American culture. They're actually far more pro-American than South Korean and Japanese.

Don't involve yourself with an uncertain and unnecessary fight with the wrong people. You won't gain anything. Every American would suffer losses. Don't ruin it for us please.

Actually in the contrary, China's economy is incredibly capitalist and China has I think one of the largest privately owned companies in Asia and China has the largest number of millionaries in Asia. The government is runned by the Communist Party but they're communist by name only. China's economy seems more capitalist now than most other non-Communist countries in Asia. Btw, I've visited HKSAR & China a few times. The Chinese people generally love America and American culture.

only the people that pose a dangerous threat to our country. It's the reason you and i are alive. But we are superior in every other field. And not only does this mean americans have a good life we have altruism to spare by helping the citizens of syria, iraq and afghanistan as well as vietnam and other asian countries. Please explain, how are we not #1? If you say anything stupid I'll call the guantanamo guards and have you arrested for what you said earlier.

You do know there are many Muslims and Mexicans serving in the US Military right? I think it's the Latinos are the 3rd largest demographic in the US military. Plus what does define a "True American" or "Patriot"? I'm a Filipino-American (of Chinese ancestry), the girl I love is American and I'm thinking of enlisting into the US Army 82nd Airborne.

humm, I suppose the kind of investment you cant sell and turn ito olive oil basically. Ports, large machines. roads. Stuff you have to use and would profit most from using as they are meant, and are tough to sell. Just throwing money at a guy but without much of a plan makes for a large gambling addiction most times.

If you love America so much then why don't you support the moral values of a peaceful and accepting nation, where all races are equal? Isn't that what's supposed to make America exceptional?
