Sky News host Cheng Lei says the Chinese government may be “keeping tabs" on her about her views and thinking about “what they can do” to her family and friends back in China.
Chinese Premier Li Qiang has arrived in Canberra as he continues his tour of Australia.
“I think, in areas, they would be keeping tabs on me about what I’m doing, what I’m writing, what my views are,” Ms Cheng told Sky News Australia.
“Maybe they have things in the background of what they can do to me, my family and friends back in China if whatever I said really antagonised them - it’s hard to say.”
