I like the Brits' QE class double-island, just because it's two. The French Charles de Gaulle island looks cool too even though it's a bit more complicated and less stealthy than the Fujian's. The Chinese have some good-looking ships, though... especially their Renhai-class (Type 055) cruisers. Sleek and futuristic, and packing a heavy punch.

I guess the wind turbines would look kind of funny and it's not practical to design a tough enough deck for planes to land on and still have solar panels underneath a transparent surface. The IEP is a transition technology. Nuclear power is still the best way to go.

The last few times US carriers were in "combat" was when they were dropping bombs on goat herders with and without AK-7's in Afghanistan. The only US navy personnel who went up against a peer competitor was against against the Japanese in WWII over 75 years ago and they are mostly dead. Vietnam was not a peer competitor and yet the USA lost and those navy personnel are either retired or dead. Essentially any conflict between the PLAN and the US Navy is between two combat inexperienced navies. Modern naval battles will be a missile battle as they will never come in contact with each other. 18 out 18 war simulations in regards to a conflict in the SCS done by US think tanks have the US Navy losing every one. Let that sink in.
