Chinese leader Xi Jinping on Wednesday hosted Taiwan's former president Ma Ying-jeou in a rare meeting that recalls a past era of warmer ties. It's the first time a Chinese leader has hosted a former leader of Taiwan, and it comes just weeks before Taiwan inaugurates a new president that Beijing openly detests.
