I am a retired Civil Engineer in UK. My jaw drop to the bottom of the mountain when I see just a glims of the infrastructures for this tourist attraction: the cable cars, the hanging walkways by the side of deep cliffs and canyons, the multi level escalators through the mountain. One wonders how they build all these in such a remote and hostile environment. I suppose if China can build the tens of thousands of km of high speed rail and motorways throughout the country, this is chicken feed. Thank you so much for sharing your wild but pleasant travel experience in China. Keep up with the good work and happy travel.

I went to Tianmen Mountain in 2011 with a tour group. When we got to the bottom of Tianmen mountain, the tour guide told us there's only 15 minutes before we need to leave. So please do not go up at the Tianmen mountain. At that time, I was a fitness fanatic and wanted to test myself. So I raced up the 999 steps, took me 8 minutes, took a 20RMB photo with employees up the mountain, then six minutes coming down. And the tour guide couldn't believe it. lol

As Chinese European who's been to every single province in China and every single country in Europe (incl. unrecognized ones excl. Iceland), I hardly ever go hiking in Europe. I always save hiking and especially cultural hiking for China. In China, there are just at least dozens of stunning + famous + high + historical mountains like this, hundreds of incredible natural tourism sites, and uniquely, many mountains with countless cultural sites and relics inside. China is a civilization, is a continent on its own, and totally worth a life time to explore, you're welcome back.

Even greater efforts made to build the necessary infrastructure to bring nature available and closer to people around the World to appreciate and marvel is yet another! The contrast between China and the 'Leader of The Free World', US, could not be more stark the past week and beyond. While China is working around the clock to make advancement in all fronts, US is ever more divided and exhaust its energy on Trump's verdict saga... I dislike it when some travelers focus mostly on the locals not speaking their language or constantly mention their own lack of knowledge of the local language.

wow some of those shots are amazing. my legs were shaking every time you brought the camera over the railings lol. good job on planning the trip too, saved libby a few thousand unnecessary steps 😂. I'm no chinese ethnic minority expert, but I think those people in the traditional outfits are miao minority, common for the area. there's the han majority, then 55 minorities. yunnan province has the most and it has more a se asia feel if you ever get a chance to travel around there.

I visited Tianmen Mountain in 2010. There are 999 steps to climb up to the top of the mountain and I used 30 minutes to do it. Of course I took 2 to 3 times break in between climbing. 😂😂😂

Seven years ago, I visited Heaven Gate Mountain. We took minibus to get up to the bottom of the 999 steps through 99 turns, great experience with the 99 turns. Then we climbed up the 999 steps, what a combination of great view and being exhausted! I have been looking forward to see how it would be in today's video, haha, MiXue couple took different route by going down the 999 steps. I enjoyed every minute of the video! Thank you! I'm pretty sure Taz and Libby has a must-go list of China, and Tibet, Yellow Mountain, JiuzhaiGou, phoenix ancient town, etc, etc, are all in the list. Haha, Taz and Libby will be in China for quite a while 😀

Love your video!! We were there in September, 2018 and we took the east walkway. Now we get to follow you guys to the west walkway. That is super-cool to have that suspension bridge. On the day we were there, they had some wingsuit jumpers jumping off a cliff on the east side. Cheers from San Diego, CA.

Absolutely love your videos and your positivity. The scene where you're both on the escalator in the mountain and getting waves from the opposite side is just gold - it shows so elegantly that there are wonderful people on both sides of the world, young and old, that just want to smile and enjoy what life brings - it made my day!
