I am enjoying watching you train and teach Chinaco. I just finally got a horse, she's 2 and a half. I am not the cowboy I once was and I am enjoying slowing down and working her on the ground more and getting ideas of what I can do from the ground to prepare her and me for the saddle.

Very very important point: being in the middle of no where & not being able to get ON your horse - is not a recommendation of the equine experience! My children & i shared a big mare 28 years: and this calmness at getting ON from all kinds of objects, taught thst mare at 2-1/2 years old when we got her. Tree stumps were our favorite!!!

'Now if you are italian you probably won't pull this off because your hands are always moving! Hahaha: very true- i am a bit of Italian American & my mom used to say- put your hands in your pocket & then tell me the story! I failed every tjme!! Great video & such a great transition in that big colts training...thank you for every one your channels videos!

Another great lesson, for us and the horse!! Not to mention the humor, I often think of your sayings when I am working with my horses, it gives me a chuckle and really helps with the 'get it done' attitude I find in myself. Chinaco is a beauty.

Another good lesson! Thank you. My horse learned part 1 realy well. Of course he was really sticky to start with. At the very beginning he was resisting of course, so I made the mistake of trying to hard and caught myself moving my feet. But quickly remembered what you said about " running around like an idiot" and corrected myself. THANKYOU!🙂

So I've seen your video on pads and padding up narrow or wide horses but do you have any tips when shopping for a saddle on what to look for?

We only ride slick fork saddles. If you want a fancy one, look up Ryan Cope Saddlery. If you want a cheaper one, head to our website www.thedisciplinedride.com/saddle. The reason we like slick fork saddles is the versatility, the dropped riggin, and the free movement of the horse’s shoulders that they allow.

Pat & Deb Puckett - You mentioned in another video that you prefer a 5/16th nylon rope. What would be the best way to get one with a breakaway hondo?

Call King Ropes in Sheridan WY. Get the WHITE breakaway hondo only. Don’t let them sell you the black one.

Chinaco is our Iberian. And our other ranch horses are just grade geldings.

@@PatnDebPuckett Chinaco is a unique and obviously very honest horse. I've heard that horses with a small eye and hammerhead type confirmation (forgive me if that sounds insulting, I don't mean it too because I love Chinaco's confirmation) are less intelligent and tend to be belligerent. But this horse appears exceptionally intelligent and willing to do anything you ask of him. I'm assuming, after seeing Chinaco work, that the smaller eye and "coarse" type head indicating a substandard horse is total bunk. What are your thoughts on this?

People not familiar with this breed Lusitano, Andalusian, need to watch some spaghetti westerns! They were the real stars. Fistful of dollars , the Good Bad and the Ugly were a couple of the movies made with these horses.

Barley is a good weight builder. I feed it mixed with pure alfalfa as forage. Here in the Andes mountains of Peru we are limited to get preprocessed vitamins and minerals.
