This was a very difficult film to enhance, it hasn't turned out very well but it is watchable and you do get both colour and black and white versions in one. The original was very low resolution, grainy and jumpy, so it was a big challenge.
"Chinatown After Dark" (1931), directed by Stuart Paton and starring Carmel Myers, Rex Lease, and Barbara Kent, is a crime drama set in the mysterious and dangerous milieu of Chinatown. The plot centers around the ruthless female leader of a criminal gang, portrayed by Carmel Myers, who is determined to obtain a precious jewel. Her relentless pursuit of the gem involves manipulation, deception, and violence, as she stops at nothing to achieve her goal. Amidst the tension and intrigue, characters navigate a world filled with danger and betrayal, culminating in a suspenseful and thrilling narrative of greed and power.
I have included the enhanced black and white version of the film at the end of the colourised version, should you not like the colourisation or are interested in viewing the black and white version that I worked on, skip to 00:57:07.
I downloaded the film from Wikipedia. I used AI facial enhancement, upscaled both the original and colourised versions to HD from very low resolution and sharpening, decreased the saturation and colourised it using AVCLabs and RTX4090 with a Ryzen9 CPU and 64GB RAM. I then stitched it all together using iMovie.
